I'd get the Apple Pro Training books. They'll take you through it all step by step.

Or, just keep plugging at it, trial and error. Make some tunes. That's how most people learn.

read the manual. seriously. read the manual. it's extremely well written and covers 90% of what you'll get into. the plug-in manual is especially good-- do the tutorials in there!

Yup - the big fucker - but the reading is not that heavy to understand if you have used a sequencer before. Honestly the manual is expertly written
best way to use it - start making a tune - drop some of the millions of samples that come with it in an audio track.... hmmm ? how do i make an audio track you ask yourself? check the manual of course! from this stem a whole heap of follow on questions you will be asking yourself ... all of which will be answered by the manual.

as mentioned above several times - http://www.youtube.com/user/SFLogicNinja

this is also a hive of information http://www.logicprohelp.com/

You don't have to read that giant fucking manual. If you've used cubase before you should be fine after you learn the basics (ie how to insert an audio instrument, how to add sounds to the sampler, etc).

The exs24 is your sampler. It's got multi-outs for routing drums to auxillary channels. Learn about that first. Fat eq is what I use eq wise most of the time(find what suits you though). That and high pass or low cut filters for cutting frequencies.

When you make your first tune, look up at the top of the timeline and click the slightly greyed rectangle. It will turn green, that's your loop...eh thing. Click it on and off to listen to looped segments of your track.

Once you get the hang of it, you'll love it!

Post questions here if you get stuck.

dunno about the kits - i use a couple of them occasionally - but in general i think logic 8 is incredible. i got it in january, and i've been churning out the tunes ever since - and i still haven't installed another synth or sample plugin. the scope of stuff it comes with is immense and the synths are really good too :D

ooh here's a tip - if you can, try and get into the habit of using samplers for your audio bits rather than just dropping them straight into the DAW. I have always been in the habit of constructing my drum loops with loads of audio channels, just as individual audio hits. which is fine until you've copied and pasted it for 200 bars and then it uses up all your machine's RAM and slows everything down!
