quite honestly, how can we actually hope for better responses on a global scale if we're unwilling on a personal? like, the US gets a lot of criticism for dominance and being very US-centric in policy. but...how could we criticize a government for failing where the individual chooses to do the same? The governments are comprised of individuals who have the power to codify their decisions. If the US is merely taking the easy route....then why such ire instead of compassion? And on the flipside, if we should be striving to be more than just self-serving as a nation (and most nations are held to that same standard), how could we achieve that unless the individuals choose accordingly?

This kind of goal is necessary not just in romantic relationships, but in our personal relationships, our family relationships, and our community. With a stronger sense of empathy and understanding, a lot more would be accomplished. But if we all basically shy away from hard work, we will never have that kind of progress that would probably save us from our self-interested selves. And if that's really preferred, then what does it matter what happens from government to government? Its merely a reflection of the individual choices made every minute of every day that we'd rather not feel uncomfortable or chastised for making or neglecting.

love disappears from the world

I have this black olive puree in a jar from the Med somewhere. Real rustic stuff. A small spoon in your pasta sauce or spread on some crusty bread with dinner.. laaarrrrrverly.
badman, olives on my pizza, olives in my pasta, stuffed olives, olive oil + balsamic vinegar = ultimate win. Olives are the one of the best things this planet offers us. 8)

Dunno if this is a good thing or a bad...

Someone who left me 8 months ago cos of long distance complications, contacted me again last week by email. Since then he's also been texting me and today he rang. He left me pretty broken and now he has suddenly turned around, saying all the things I wanted to hear months ago. He wants to book a flight to come and see me.
I'm confused :? I got over him cos I had to, but now... I dunno... :?
I know things would be diffrent if we lived in the same country. Why does it have to be so complicated... *sigh*

The weight of the world
is love.
Under the burden
of solitude,
under the burden
of dissatisfaction

the weight
the weight we carry
is love.

Who can deny?
In dreams
it touches
the body,
in thought
constructs
a miracle,
in imagination
anguishes
till born
in human--

looks out of the heart
burning with purity--
for the burden of life
is love,

but we carry the weight
wearily,
and so must rest
in the arms of love
at last,
must rest in the arms
of love.

No rest
without love,
no sleep
without dreams
of love--
be mad or chill
obsessed with angels
or machines,
the final wish
is love
--cannot be bitter,
cannot deny,
cannot withhold
if denied:

the weight is too heavy

--must give
for no return
as thought
is given
in solitude
in all the excellence
of its excess.

The warm bodies
shine together
in the darkness,
the hand moves
to the center
of the flesh,
the skin trembles
in happiness
and the soul comes
joyful to the eye--

yes, yes,
that's what
I wanted,
I always wanted,
I always wanted,
to return
to the body
where I was born.
