@ anyone who lives in bristol and works

What kind of wage do you reckon you need to be able to pay rent/bills etc. and be able to go out quite a lot etc.? I know thats a vague question but assuming I was living in that whole redland area in a fairly nice house.

I'm looking at jobs paying around 15-17 grand a year at the moment...

One of these days, say, when people fly around in jet cars and the blood of Paris Hilton is found to contain cancer killing antibodies, I WILL move there.

I reacon that would do you for living in a shared house rooms will be about £300 in a center location - St Pauls, Montpelier, Stokes Croft. Redland, Bishopston, St Andrews or the Gloucester road area probably a bit more expensive and not so close to the center but Bristol aint that big!

Depends how much you drink or bun but I know people who survive on less than 17K and still manage to reach a lot more than me!

edit - yeah as Wascal says get on Hijack and ask people if they got a room!

Bristol is pretty cheap. reckon you could live very well on 17G

i would say look into housing in St Pauls also, it'll be cheaper

Cotham is good also, but more expensive

maybe pm Billy Blanks for more info, he lives there still and will be in a good position to advise

yeh i guess so, parts of it are really no different to most of Bristol (esp. the bits bordering up to Montpellier, quite posh round there really), but while parts of it are perhaps a bit more dodgy it seems like maybe the rep exceeds the risk if you know what i mean.

but yeh get in touch with billy or indeed on hijackbristol cos some people will be able to help further (although some people on there may have counterproductive contributions...)

I'm moving down to Bristol within the year so this thread is really helpful. Im not really thinking too much about jobs/accommodation at the min as I just want to get out of Wigan. I've been down a few times and everyone I've spoken to seems really positive about living there.

lol I realise that and always feel cheeky asking, but most of the stuff in here is okay. Just not sure if prolapses (which I think that was, from the quick glance) are the one to be looking at on a work PC.

come come now kins , i fear that by looking on forums during the working day , you have possibly already violated some work code, im not judging you im just saying.
Kudos on knowing a prolapse at a glance though.

in all seriousness i did look and think "is that too far " then i thought about corpsoes wotless weaslish demeanour and thought , nah.

Apologies if it tainted your day in anyway though squire.

Haha, no worries man. I'm pretty sure there's violations aplenty already as a result of looking on this forum, you've got me there. I guess it's just that picture maybe draw even more attention to the fact that I'm looking at something I shouldn't be!

But it's all good, and my day was no way tainted. In fact, I felt smug for being able to identify a prolapse at a glance. Never know when that might come in handy. :P

15-17k should do you alright Corpse...that's bout 1000-1100 a month after tax. Rent could be as little as £200 if you're somewhere a bit grimey. I'm paying £260 for somewhere alright, then you're talking near £400 for flashness in Clifton, Cotham etc.

This might be useful, if you've not seen it already.

I've lived in and around Bristol for bout 20 years...like it a lot :)
