LA DUBSTEP NOSTRA ARTIST PROFILE & FORTHCOMING LADN-002

Post by ladubstepnostra » Mon Sep 29, 2008 7:20 am

6BLOCC (Los Angeles, CA)

Image

In 2006, while working on some drum and bass material R.A.W. heard a bassline coming from the nextdoor studio and asked, "what or who is this?" It was a mix by Youngsta from the UK, "the sound spoke to me and said follow me...and I did". R.A.W. continues, "I felt like I was ready to change my style and move onto a new sound...dubstep was exactly what I needed at the time. Drum and bass reached a point where I no longer felt like it was me and it was also getting too fast and void of the funk."

By 2007 R.A.W reinvents himself as 6BLOCC and is releasing his new sound on labels like Lo Dubs, Tribe Steppaz UK, Bootshake UK, La Dubstep Nostra and the popular white label War Recordings. La Dubstep Nostra is proud to set off the first record by this original don with the dark and twisted bass track "What the Fuck?!!" and be on the lookout for more sick remixes and original tunes from 6BLOCC on the new sub-label 2012.

When he isn't on the road or in the air flying to various clubs and events throught out the U.S. 6BLOCC is managing his digi-label DIGITAL 6 (available on www.digital-tunes.net - www.chemical-records.co.uk - www.addictech.com - www.beatsdigital.com) and knocking out dubstep remixes and originals. The word on the streets is 6BLOCC is looking to put out some white labels of his hottest dubplates that always get the call...PUULLLL UUUPPPPP!!!! If you're wondering what the name 6BLOCC means? "I got the name from a Masta Ace song where he says, "the bass I create is heard from six blocks". BOOM!

Parson (Austin, TX)

Image

Chris Parson, the musical enigma, brings his collective, unique stylings to dubstep. From his humble beginnings as a DJ in 1997, to his advances towards production in the early 2000's, Parson has sought to be part of the future and evolution of music. With influences ranging from hip hop, industrial, and jungle, and even more obscure sources such as folk, film scores, and even cats; Parson has combined them with his personal nuances and signatures to create deep, brooding melodies and haunting rhythms that permeate the senses.

He has gained the praise of the dubstep community internationally, and with the support of his label Planet Mu, now works towards creating cutting edge beats, continually expanding the horizons of sound, and breaking boundaries one carefully placed note at a time. When asked about his plans for the future, Parson replied, "As for the future, I plan on being awesome. Maybe amazing. It's in God's hands now." For any listener, that is no question, for Parson's eclecticism and aesthetic astuteness guarantee unparalleled amazement.

Peep the "Sons of God" massive tune on La Dubstep Nostra 001 and also forthcoming "Here's how it goes" on LADN-002 as we step up to take over the game!

Nebulla & DJ Dore (NYC)

Image

(Ben Dotson and Maxim Kolbowski-Frampton) are an electronic music production duo from NYC. Already heavy enthusiasts in the NYC drum and bass scene, they started making music in 2002. Nebulla and DJ Dore gained significant ground with their unconventional Dirtystep Mixtape series. Whereas dubstep combines two step and breaks with Jamaican dub, Dirtystep brings the sound closer to home, adding a retro feel and the rough, rugged and raw vocals of dirty south hip-hop to the blend.

After several digital releases, they celebrated their first vinyl release "Gettin' Doe" feat. Czar Black on Los Angeles based dubstep label La Dubstep Nostra 001. Now, with growing internet radio and blog-based buzz and a physical release under their belts to lend credibility to their already impressive discography, they are back with two new tracks on Code Of Arms 001.

UltraBlack (Phoenix, AZ)

Image

Aka Adroit & TheOneSpy have paired up to bring you an original sound to dubstep & drum and bass. Dropping exclusive self-produced sets at every town they hit, they're some of the most unique dubstep producers on the west coast. Signed to DubKraft (Romainia), Grinch (Romainia), Rottun (Canada), La Dubstep Nostra (US),UltraBlack Recordings ( US), Shift (US), FoulPlay (Dubstep)(US), 10Bag (UK), SubDivision (UK), Sub-Carnage (Germany) Binge (US), & DarkFlex Recordings (UK). These Producers are moving up quickly in popularity and fame. "Dubstep for the insane!" Look out for this tag team of drum and bass producers turned dub.

La Dubstep Nostra (LA) has signed two tunes "Hate On US" & "Twin Mobb"scheduled to be release on there 2nd and 3rd releases. Hear even 6BLOCC pull out his VIP version of Hate on Us as the ultimate battleweapon for his routines, no doubt they're coming out with some heat. We're proud to showcase these two talented partners in crime as they blast hit after hit! If you get a chance to see them live, wether at your local spot, warehouse or desert rave these two destroy any show, mad respect to you homies!

MONSTA (Cambridge, U.K.)

Image

These days, you hear a lot about multi-tasking individuals; everyone is doing graphic design, producing for a bunch of labels, DJing and a host of other titles to add to their social networking sites. You don't know if these cornballs are doing it for the love, for the accolades, or some twisted mixture of both… but the real question is, how many of these guys are doing more than one thing WELL, though?

Enter Monsta. Many heads first heard of Cambridge's Monsta from his musical endeavors. He started the LIFE4LAND crew with Ed Cox back in 2000, which started out as a sound system as well as a free party. This led into Monsta dabbling with production, getting tunes released on Cyclone and LIFE4LAND's own label, but these releases (primarily Drum & Bass) led Monsta to start experimenting with multiple genres: Gabba, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Ragga, Grime and eventually Dubstep, which has brought him the most musical accolades as of yet. He released a free album on MySpace that was very well received, and lead to his first vinyl Dubstep release ("Eat Your Fuckin Dinner" for Subdivision, which was followed by "Selassi"). His cut "Space Invaders" (ft. Mr. Key) is the latest release on Subtrakt, and features remixes by Dean Rodell & Raiden; this EP features Monsta artwork, as well as a cartoon video! Dubstep and Grime heads should also be on the lookout for "Gangsta Grime Riddim", which has found a home on LaDubstepNostra out of L.A. which also features limited label art by Monsta, definitely some rare bizness.

Alongside these ventures, Monsta has been producing original paintings. These pieces of art have been purchased by the likes of DJ Fresh, DJ Q-Bert, Eddy Temple Morris and many others. While he first started out selling his original canvas work via eBay, he (along with Duncan McRobbie) launched "monstapress" ( www.monstapress.com ) in early 2007, a sort of one-stop-shop for worldwide fans to purchase his work from the comfort of their homes. His pieces have also been featured in galleries, and with the way his work has been picked up over the last few years, there's no telling where this will lead!

Bombaman (Toronto, Canada)

Image

Aka Matt Carl aka one half of the dubstep duo Loetech with XI from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As Kid Kameleon put it in his column "Basic Needs" in the December 2007 issue of XLR8R, he makes dark, weird, boundry pushing music for you to meditate to in a club with large speakers.

These days he is working on making sure his beats live up to that expectation. Always looking for a new way to mangle subbass, you can find him pushing out new music every week in the form of 4/4, electro tinged dubstep. With forthcoming releases on La Dubstep Nostra, Lo Dubs and Badman Press, and releases already available on Lo Dubs, Aufect Recordings and Dubplatelet you can be sure there is a Bombaman sound suited to you.
