i'll have a go: imo complete bullshit move!! as has been said, a forum like this one has a life of its own lived out by its users, like a film which is directed by its actors in realtime. that's as it should be in a public forum. at dubstepforum power's always been in the hands of a few, and granted, a bit of quality control is not a bad idea, but here it has on numerous occasions slipped into a semblance of tyranny. so wtf? is this place public or isn't it? if the almighty mods and admins of this forum want it to be an exclusive, elitist place for dubstep vips, then close off registration and kick out whomever u deem "unfit to be here". but this half-assed, wanton display of power is nothing short of a pathetic insult to this community. i can live with the occasional trolling and internet idiocy, i am capable enough to filter it out myself, and i don't need someone else to tell me what or how to think. so yea, @ admins and mods: make up your minds, you are not the scene, and it's not your job to police or censor it!

Respect to Dr. DDD and Ashley.

Suggesting that other forums were being opportunistic by inviting people over, that's a bit much.

If one of my friends was like "wish me a happy birthday, oh... i won't be talking to you for an unspecified amount of time " i'd be like "screw you jack!"

I'm not trying to fire anyone up, but come on...

1 - No matter how man times mods on here say they're not trying to control the scene, they're simply trying to regulate what has now become a online community, it's ridiculous how whining imbeciles will just not have it and fill the board up with hate.

2 - This place is NOT a business, sure it has some ads now but they basically made it not-for-profit charity instead of making a loss every month. We are not customers. It's run by a guy in Croatia who is trying to finish a degree in Physics, simply because he loves music. If I were running it I'd have given up long long ago because of all the hate and complaining directed at the mods. Some of the threads (like those money related ones) in the weeks before the closure were so idiotic it's untrue.

3 - This place is not the scene, it's a place administered by a few volunteers and it's fucking free! If the angsty whining stnuc on here were exposed to the enormous volumes of UTTER SHIT that the mods on here have to put up with, then maybe they'd realise that they should sort up and perhaps go out and get laid instead of posting garbage 24/7.

ONE fucking guy started this place, helped soon after by a handful of mods. All in, over the 3 years that this place has only existed because of the work of about 10 people. TEN people for a forum of 20,000 that has helped to spread a sound all over the globe. So they close for LESS THAN TWO DAYS and they have shit like this. ARE YOU FUCKING MENTAL, what the fuck have any of you done for any scene that even comes close to being as important as what these people have done?
robotic wrote:so yea, @ admins and mods: make up your minds, you are not the scene, and it's not your job to police or censor it!
To fucking right, they're people with jobs and university and rent to pay and everyone who uses this place owes them a fuck load more than they owe us.

Big up Dubway, boomnoise, ThinKing, Conspira, seckle, BunZer0, joenice & Little Boh Peep. Cheers for all the hard work.

i assume you won't be charging your advertisers for the few days of non-service?

keep this forum closed. close it for a month. then you mods can gain some "perspective". Your letter, by the way, was not poignant, just stupid.

having an opinion that runs counter to "OMG THANK YOU FOR SHOWING US THE ERROR OF OUR WAYS AND REMINDING US THAT WE SHOULD ALL BOW DOWN AND THANK YOU", does not mean you are an angsty, whining tnuc. there are some people expressing some valid reasons for being frustrated, and their opinions matter too.

i have always given props to this site, to the mods, and all involved for making this the epicenter for the global dubstep scene. that said, i think this was a bullshit move, more petulance than brilliance. "appreciate us or we're taking our ball and going home." mature. really.

there are 20,000 people on this forum, and a handful of mods/admins. this forum wouldn't be shit without the contributors, it would be a handful of mods/admins. and of that 20,000, there are a handful of people who start shit, and a whole buncha people who hang out, post events and releases and dubs and mixes and generally don't act like assholes. and yet we were all "punished", arguably for the actions of a small minority. that's utter crap.

how nice to be reminded that at the end of the day, this forum is "OURS and not YOURS". community? doesn't feel like it right now.

i will stick around because i like this place and a fair bit of the people in it, but i will be looking sideways at it from here on out. my trust that our dubstepforum overlords give a rat's ass what the rest of us think is pretty much out the window.
