Lucky for me I share mine with DMZ!BEN? wrote:dubstep forum's birthday is the same as mine.
it wasn't a great present to get home and find that it had been shut down...
My 18th birthday was my first DMZ event which was the 1st Birthday!
I was referring rather to the bullshit in the weeks preceding this where people were whining about how much the forum was worth and the power of the mods etc etc etc.sapphic_beats wrote: having an opinion that runs counter to "OMG THANK YOU FOR SHOWING US THE ERROR OF OUR WAYS AND REMINDING US THAT WE SHOULD ALL BOW DOWN AND THANK YOU", does not mean you are an angsty, whining tnuc. there are some people expressing some valid reasons for being frustrated, and their opinions matter too.
True, I mean we all waste hours on here everyday so they should too right? What is the point of looking at this as some kind of power trip? These people are giving their free time to do this and being bombarded with drivel from people all over the globe might make you want to chuck in the towel every now and again, that's even before you take the insanity that the OFFICIAL DUBSTEP AWARDS BY DUBSTEP FORUM & NME (SPONSORED BY NESTLE, RAYTHEON AND CITIGROUP) in to account.sapphic_beats wrote: my trust that our dubstepforum overlords give a rat's ass what the rest of us think is pretty much out the window.
it's funny, because i mentioned to two mods that i had personal convos with about this, that they were 'Damned if you do, damned if you don't'.stanton wrote:I was referring rather to the bullshit in the weeks preceding this where people were whining about how much the forum was worth and the power of the mods etc etc etc.sapphic_beats wrote: having an opinion that runs counter to "OMG THANK YOU FOR SHOWING US THE ERROR OF OUR WAYS AND REMINDING US THAT WE SHOULD ALL BOW DOWN AND THANK YOU", does not mean you are an angsty, whining tnuc. there are some people expressing some valid reasons for being frustrated, and their opinions matter too.

Is this place free? Has this place helped you discover new music? Has this place helped you make friends the world over? Has this place helped your DJing career? No, you're right actually, it's here so Mike and Ken can lord it over us and make us feel small and pathetic. How could anyone have known how big this place would become? Would Dubway have set it up if he knew that he was going to have to juggle a Physics degree and administering a 20,000 user forum? It's really easy for people who spend all day wasting time at work on here to get pissy but if you don't have so much free time and you're having to sort through 1000's of posts and PM's every week then it's very different. Being a mod here is the definition of 'Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't'.
Finally, if people can't do without this place for less than two days then they really really really need to get out more.
Probably that you're a whinging opportunist, who with every complaint you write on this forum sniffs of taking baby steps to scheming your way to launch the online version of dubstep's GMTVAshley wrote:What is it exactly you are trying to implyBunZer0 wrote:which is absolutely nice in a way cause now all the people hating dsf have alternatives to post their valuable info somewhere elseAshley wrote: Take advantage of the downtime? My point was that it was less than two days, at the beginning of the week, not that it's just the internet.sapphic_beats wrote: and as far as the (general) argument that we shouldn't get all up in arms about this because it's just a forum and we should all get out more, well...which do you want? it's either the cornerstone of the international dubstep scene that we should all appreciate or it could be gone tomorrow, or it's just the internet so none of us should care at all and shouldn't be pissed. pick one.
i know, i was actually referring more to some comments from others. hence the "general" argument part.stanton wrote:My point was that it was less than two days, at the beginning of the week, not that it's just the internet.sapphic_beats wrote: and as far as the (general) argument that we shouldn't get all up in arms about this because it's just a forum and we should all get out more, well...which do you want? it's either the cornerstone of the international dubstep scene that we should all appreciate or it could be gone tomorrow, or it's just the internet so none of us should care at all and shouldn't be pissed. pick one.
