I enjoyed dubplate.net...I enjoyed dubstepforum.forumspace.com.....I enjoy dubstepforum most of the time....I really enjoyed the 3rd birthday mix!

Was suprised to see DSF go and also happy to let people know about the bass.beats.breaks forum which i started around 8 months ago and already had a small userbase with some great discussion and a community on a much much much smaller level than dubstepforum.

Dubstepforum is the place where everyone is and where the info since the 2005 has been stored and big up to everyone who has posted since it began. Of course some of the content i don't agree with and some i do and at times i get pissed off by idiots posting shit but other people may get pissed off with what they perceive as idiots posting what they think is shit (how about that fantastic preset 'debate'!). People have conflicting opinions all the time about everything and that is life.... as with any other forum everyone really should have an equal right to voice there thoughts....

I think it is good that people may have discovered new forums and maybe new communities will spring up which is always a good thing as it stops things getting too incestuous....If all you read is the NME or only watch MTV or listen to XFM then you will begin to let them dictate to you. Variety is always healthy. Maybe new communities will develop and new music will find a small place to grow in the same way as has happened here over the last 3 years. I'm not saying people should take sides and just choose one place as then things will get as incestuous as before...maybe if people dip into all places then they will get a well rounded experience.

I'm not going to pass comment on the shut down as dubway does own the site and can do what he likes...whether or not i agree. or think it wise doesn't really factor into it...in the same way as Murdoch could close myspace if he fancied...the backlash of course would be that people would be pissed off...I will always respect dubway for creating a forum in 2005 when there was nothing similar around. He took the initiative and i'm sure no one would have predicted how large things would get.

So in the same way i have respect for dubway doing it in 2005 i have respect for everyone else who stepped up when they saw this forum would be down for an indefinite amount of time and i wish them all luck and hope their forums engage people in new debate and help develop connections and contacts in the same way as has happened here.

I will be continuing to come here and post and will be keeping an eye and posting on the others too.

I usually ignore "negative" threads so that's probably why I'm not as bothered by "negativity", but negative and negativity are pretty vague terms. It's all in the eye of the beholder, as in if someone says something you don't agree with, it's negative.

well put threnody. At least you had the patience which I've sadly lost atm. I can see you've def not got any hidden agenda like I suspect a very small minority *possibly* have (ooh controversial!). No fingerz pointed!

You're just doing your thing - full respect to that.

Glad to see the forum back up!!!!

I have read through this thread and it seems that shutting down the forum for a couple dayz caused more beef and separation in the community than it helped. imo

I love having my music and my friends. You guys can argue but this site is a pillar in the community and it cant be takin out anymore!!

Nice to have the forum back!!!!

Nah, don't lose patience over it, it's not worth it. Think you mentioned a few posts back that you don't do forums much. So (and correct me if I'm stepping past my bounds) you might not realise that this kinda thing happens on most forums eventually.

Ok, not the sudden temporary shutdown thing which was refreshingly different (most forums would just completely pull the plug without warning)! I'm referring to the various opinions that are seemingly at odds with each other but which at the end of the day all just want a forum that everyone can be happy in. Heck in some places it blows up every 3 months or so. I actually think it's amazing how civil everything generally is around here given the number of people who post!

I just go with the flow these days. Too much time in the past spent moderating or trying to help everyone get along by explaining one or all sides to each other, especially when people come from different cultural backgrounds, agendas and age groups. Somehow, though, they eventually learn to get along I find. Or blow up. The result's usually the same. A better place emerges. And then the cycle repeats itself again.

Hmm...I'm beginning to sound a bit nihilistic I think.

The gist is...Dubstep good! Unhappy forum goers will always be present! Happy forum goers will always be present! Dubstep good!

i got an idea: why not set up a paypal donation account for the mods and admins of the forum? and even better, make it transparent how much has been donated, and a top10 donaters list might be nice too! that way, the good folks putting in all this hard work will have a direct measure of how much they're appreciated, and by whom, and they won't need to resort to such strange, destructive measures as to unplug the whole forum. nobody will have to leave, and no volunteer will be able to bitch about being unpaid and unappreciated any longer!

... and the rest of us, who gladly spend our time putting 'work' into this forum without requiring monetary, verbal, or any other kind of compensation, we can go on doing what it is one does on a forum... to post shit! seriously... without the users this place is nothing. and on here we are all part of one thing! why try so hard to divide this community? can't we revel in the fact that dubstep is a melting pot of sounds and ideas and influences and cultural backgrounds, sometimes clashing but often harmonizing, mashing, in new and astounding ways... and just run with that??

sry... don't mean to get all daisy on your asses, but let's just respect each other and more power to the people and all that yea!!

Don't think all the community - that contributes with useful posts, music and mixes, etc... - has to pay for the behaviour of few that offend the dubstepforum admins, mods and users but at the same time use the mainforum to promote their myspace and choons..
Yeah, some people needed to calm down but that wasn't the best way imho.

why are some people getting so angry about all this?? yes it was a bit of a shock to some of us, and there was some disappointment yes, but can't we all be mature enough to just crack on with 'forum-ing' again now?
