Dubstep in your city...

Post by DFRNT » Tue Oct 21, 2008 5:02 pm

For those outside of London and Bristol - what is the dubstep scene like?

Edinburgh has a couple of good nights. Volume & Big n Bashy - not to mention a handful of other smaller nights playing dubstep amongs other genres. We have Glasgow for some good nights too tho - just an hour away and if there's not something in Edinburgh, it's almost always in Glasgow.

Is there much hype or buzz for dubstep as a genre? Do the shops stock it? We have underground solush'm which stocks it - and Avalanche records have now got a tiny dubstep section - other than that i's just HMV and the usual.

Would be interesting to see how much access people get to it in the real world.

Nottingham is fast becoming a hot bed for some serious bassweight. Nights like Basslaced, Detonate, RubberDub and Misst are all pretty essential for anyone wanting some perfect nights out.

Theres a decent dubstep scene starting in my hometown. Mostly by me and my friends. i live in a small town(20,000 peeps who mostly listen to rock or country) so when we put on shows we have Dj's from dfrnt generes like DnB, breaks, house, minimal and of course dubstep. Its starting to get big.

But in the big cities like calgary and vancouver theres dubstep nights and the scene is blowing up. Alot of it has to do with the shambhala music festival that brought in skream the last few years(which was incredible).
