Anyone used this ?!!
Im thinking this have to be the perfect way to make a small system sound better and a good way to have control on the sound in club.

thats not all this is used for. many a recording/mixing engineer use it to add low end to tracks. everything from deepening a bassline to adding low end to chugging metal guitars.. definitely worth its price

I expect mostly no one uses it for getting a half decent system sound better, but will it do the job ?
Or is this much more of a studio thing ?

looking at the details . . .
Synthesis Frequency
Range: 26-56Hz (from 54-110Hz input signal)

i don't know much of the technical stuff, but is the input frequency range what I need ?
Which frequency range is the nice punching bass ?

i think this was built with the crossover function in mind, but later used by recording engineers and producers.

usually the thud and weight of the kick is below 100.. probably 40~80

have only had a few days to play with it . . .
hoping to use it for my new rane empath! tried it out first night tonight!
Wicked mixer ! had an old Vestax 05 for 7-8 years now, so it was time for some upgrades . . .
I love distorting and tweaking the sound in the mix, so as soon as I can learn to control the LFO tempo tight enough, ill try using it everywhere its space enough!
Also trying to start building up a basic production setup, and everyone I have talked to has told me to get something analog!
So when the FilterFactory was for sale locally, I had no choice!

do you have any midi incorporated into your signal chain? if so, thats exactly what its there for: tempo sync. if not its also a tap tempo and then you can just change the rate atleast, but still be on time with the beat

im not a dj, i use it strictly for production, and its my favorite. especially if i can get all the samples i want to play up on my mpc, because then i can just connect it to one of my outputs and anytime i want to send a sound to it i can just quickly change the routing

no midi yet, and the im not tight enough on the tap tempo yet
i wanted to go analog to have to learn a new set of tools so its just a matter of practicing! hoping to get a MPC 1000 to at to my setup when I get the money . . .
good to hear its a good combination with the filterfactory!
and hopefully also the The dbx 120A!

need to get into some production now after having played records for over 10 years . . . rip up the good old b-boy tunes!

You know any good way to get a midi-sync signal from a technics ?
is ther a sort of adapter that can read the audiostream and make a midi-sync signal ?

the 1000 is what i have

short of an interface and laptop/software incorporated with a midi clock, im not really sure.

there was a box i heard of a few months ago but damned if i remember what it was called. it read the incoming signal from your turntables, had algorithms for detecting the BPM of the incoming signal to then sample loops of lengths you ask it to; 2 bar, 4 bar, 8 bar. it then saved those loops to the few onboard pads it had. something like that might have a midi out, atleast i hope it would, because itd be an easy & valuable addition to a tool like that

hm . . . never trusted bpm counters . . . they have probably gotten better in the latest years, but with that price, ill look for something more hands on . . .

You think its possible to get/build a simple midi pitch control like the ones on turntables, that can be connected to the filterfactory to control the tempo ?

Im broke now so ill have to look around a while anyway . . .
Thanks again for the help!

** bumpin this **

Anyone else use this? Is there a vst equivalent? I'm looking for something to make my bass-guitar tone heavy.

Using a sub-oscillator?

Oh hang on, bass guitar. Dunno. Ashdown amps have a sub oscillator that's supposed to be pretty nice, but they're hardly cheap.

But in general, I'm sure it's very nice but AFAICT from the description it'd be most useful for adding low end welly to stuff that doesn't have enough of it's own, either because it's pre-recorded or because it's real instrument with physical limitations. I don't quite see why you'd want one to add a sub oscillator to your bassline when you could just, er, add a sub oscillator to your bassline.

I like the sound of real strings. Some things a synth just can't emulate. But yeah i want the bass to be mammoth so i'm experimentin.

i use the dbx 120XP sometimes when working as a mix engineer but not so much when producing. i find it's great for adding weight to bass tones that don't contain a lot of inherent sub-frequencies... like a stringed bass for example. really good for beefing stuff up, did a mix for a live dnb/electronica band last night and it worked a treat on the live bass parts, meaning i didnt have to layer an additional sub part to get the required low end.

cheap as too, a handy addition to anyone's rack i'd say :)
