I smoke quite alot, but not when I make music.
I usually INTEND to do music when I'm stoned, but more often than not, I don't get around to do it.
But I like to finish a worksession by lighting up a spliff and listen to the last hours of work, but after that, i don't press "save".
Surfing the internet, on the other hand, is a computerbased activity that requires a zoot, as you call it. it took me a while to understand, that this thread was about cannabis smoking, and not about the need of som (to mee unknown) instrument....
and yes, I'm stoned.

werd, i think it's better for the end mixing/arranging stage, after everything has been sorted out, then you can just experiment throwing shit together and letting the flow run freelysystm_bypass wrote:Indeedfutures_untold wrote:Based on the experiences of my drug taking youth, I firmly believe that music that sounds 'phat' sober will sound ' f***ing PHAAAAAT!' when your mushed!![]()
Just dont get things twisted round the other ways to much, where u stay lifted all the time just to listen and write. You wake up a week later to find that your symphonic assault that was going to put Dom & Roland out of business is a dodegy piece of crap.

I find that if I blaze a couple of zoots my melody writing goes cheesy as hell, like a nursery rhyme!
But the tunes i make a couple of hours after a zoot are always better i find

been a heavy smoker for the past 7-8 years, and it was starting to get to the point where i couldn't enjoy making music without getting proper blazed at first.......anyone that enjoys that shit as much as i do (too much) knows that when you do it every day a lot of people need to smoke just to feel normal. and then a lot of people dont. moderation is key, like all things in life. if you can't use it moderately, or make tunes without it, it's definetly a problem.
i quit smoking and drinking about 3 weeks ago, basically gave up that lifestyle of wilding out for a new change of eating healthy foods and shit, exercising, going outside more, etc and although it's not really as fun as blazing all day and making bass, i have found the quality of my songs improve nearly tenfold.
but to each their own, i guess

I smoke weed quite a bit I mean I got about 10 different weed dealers here in California.. I am extremely A.D.D. so weed actually slows mean down quite a bit so i can concentrate better on the task at hand.. Right now my Ableton is minimized but I can still bang a bass line out with the oxygen, along with the Itunes, along with dubstepforum tabed along with facebook, with the MSNBC reporting about swine flu.. Creative people smoke alot of weed haven't you guys ever seen Entourage..
ABLETON LIVE...

Hardware is what's UP man! Hate computers? Don't use 'em. get an MPC and a Virus. Maybe the fact you're on a PC andnot a mac? I'm in front of a mac all day and I just don't like staring at a screen even further.
That said... I find if I listen actively for one pas and take notes THEN fiddle with knobs or whatever I've got a regimen. That way, if I get out in the weeds so to speak, I don't completely forget what I'm supposed to be doing. I get a lot done that way and you get the best of both worlds.

i make most of my tunes high and find that i actually get into the zone after a proper zoot. just setup all the shit (monitors, mpc, microkorg) beforehand then blaze a zoot outside, come back and just start messing around.
an hour later i've usually made something good. best part is i was totally spaced out when i did it!
maybe nowaysj is right and the hardware makes a difference. im not sure i could get the same results in front of a computer

Given up the wicked weed for years now (I'm 33).
It'll eventually sap every living fibre from your very being, before dumping you cold, in a bleak world full of self loathing and hatefulness...
...at which point you smash a load of Mum & Dad up and get to work on some beats.
HELL YEAH!!!

i usually prefer to start making a track without anything, and then i usually start getting sick and tired of hearing the same things that ive been making, so thats when i have a zoot, and usually while im smoking it i get new ideas then i just get back on the comp, and put the ideas down. then i usually like to listen to my track while im blazed cause it gives me a different perspective on what my track will sound like to other ppl.
