Its onli good if its dun right!!! the most lyrical and aggressive mc's should spray on dubstep!!! skepta aint reli right for it i dun fink personally!! dubstep wuld suit sumone like ghetto, durrty gooodzz, scorcher maybe, wretch is bare lyrical but dnt fink hed suit dubstep.... but durrty goodz definatly....

i've only heard an MC that i liked once. usually i hate it, especially if i DL a mix.

HOWEVER,
if the show is poppin, and it's a good MC(flow, presence, don't say dumb stuff, etc) AND i have had at least 4 or 5 bass/newcastle, i can deal with it

i apologize for my harshness re: this topic, its something that has been on my mind alot lately in various realms of performance & party. what im REALLY sick of, is fucking complaining & dumb generalizations when there is so much talent out there and infinate amounts of fun to be had...

so im complaining about complaining and come off salty as fuck, truth be told i have so much fun everywhere i go all the time, maybe im weird like that,,,

and yo, i know how it rolls in Picksburgh yo, just rocked at shadow lounge last thursday, fresh Hiphop session in one part, vibesing reggae dancehall party in the other, mad females, mad talent, and MCs all around, get off your high horse and linkup. for fucks sake.

big respect to all the dope MCs and hosts and DJMCs and people yelling in the crowd MCs, and everyone who raps to themselves... keep singin the good song..

I ain't feeling MC's over dubstep but if they let the music roll out then it's all good with me. People like pokes etc.. do their job well. They just fill in every now and then and provide a bit of a voice for the performer.

Mc's are an essential part of the live interaction between the crowd and dj. If you've ever been to a night with a good MC you'd appreciate the rolling vibes and energy that they can bring to a set.

If you've only ever heard mc'ing on a set you've downloaded then you need to get out of the house.

i dont go to hear mcs, and if im told there will be mcs im dissapointed.

i dont mind MCing and rapping, but for dubstep its all about the track itself. thats why the production quality of dubstep towers over the production of grime tracks.

Mc's have been spitting over dubstep week in week out since before it even had a name. How is it not a part of the sound, especially live?

I'm not going to go on so I'll just say it's an integral part of the culture to me, I understand if it's not for others.

the problem is alot of mc think its all about "them".

thay will never say it but thay do. you can tell when (as it was said) when a big tune drops thay wana spit over it as mutch as that can.

remember without a mc there is still music but with out the music where is the mc?

and IMO the reason Dnb was never as "big" as i sould have been was because of mc's.

how meany nights brag on the flyer "NO MC" because thay know more people will turn up.

I played out not long ago and didnt know they had an MC to chat over my set. Turns out they could have either the MC or myself coming thru the monitors. They those the MC and was not having any of it from me.

I chose not to play and let some bloke mix and make a total fool of himself.

There are good emcees and bad, just like there are good djs and bad. Saying emcees don't belong over jungle or dubstep is being completely ignorant to the history of the sound. There is nothing I love more than a proper emcee over a jungle set. There are way too many proper emcees to even name that contributed to many classic jungle tunes. Plenty of dancehall cats. Jungle wouldn't be the same without emcees period.

Spaceape is doing an amazing job there, and it gives an awesome result.

I personally don't mind MC as long as they have something special to give and fit the music. The Bug's tracks are a good examples of this. Warrior Queen rocks and Flowdan has such a voice!

But I believe someone MCing over a track not originaly made to have a MC over it can really fuck up the vibe.

Good on you. I would have done exactly the same. Too many people are just desperate to get on the decks.

I am sure I sound like a total hater in this thread but I actually have performed several times with an MC. I will only do it on my terms tho and when the MC and I have an understanding. If I say shut up then that's it. If they don't comply the xlr is getting pulled. And I have told MC's from other crews to sit down when they tried to do their thing over my set. You just have to stand up for yourself.
