Dubstep producers dont seem to use it much I think because most use software only.

I guess its handy to know that your not completely wasting your time using X and it is possible to make music.

When your starting out you do think "it is not possible to make anything sound good using this!"

Its about trial and error (if you don't have someone to show you) and hopefully you learn fast:D

yeah i was interested in his arrangement and editing skills and was wondering what tools he uses to do the job

then i was surprised at the fact that he uses cubase because I have found it to be a pain.

i dont need any advice (and I didnt ask for it) on what DAW i should use or how i should think about these things

Use whatever you like but Cubase/Logic are pretty much the standard if you ask me.

Mah fuckas wake up! Ableton Live 7.0 is so much the shit it stanks when I put it in 3 zip lock baggies.

I need NO controllers to take a track from start to finish 'visually'. If I need some buttons to click and knobs to tweak, that can be done with a simple M-Audio device.

I'm saying, if you own a PC and have anything that will sequence, you can dub. It's time to think outside of the bizox and get creative.. like dem old idrens did with a 2 track reel to reel, tape loops, spring reverbs etc...

Dunno whaaat you are on about but big up Ableton for serious production..... not sure about that one.

As much as I like Cubase and it's whole enviroment and workflow,mainly because it's the first proper piece of software I've learnt to use,I've got to admit,that in comparison with Sonar 7 it feels a bit outdated...Being buggy as fuck doesn't exactly help it as well.Anybody feels the same?
It's not really suprising that so many people are still using Cubase,once you really get into it,with all the key commands,workspaces and macros,putting a whole tune together in it is a doodle.Hope,that v5 will be something special,maybe then I'll stop crying over the 500 quid I've spent on C4

. Implementing easier automation setup for plugins probably is a good place to start the update.
Besides,2562's "Aerial" imho is the best dubstep had to offer in 2008,does it really matter,if it was put together with Cubase or any other DAW? Good music will always sound good,even if it was made with Fasttracker

Get me, doesn't matter about what you use. I'm using SX3 right now and it's quite stable for me, especially after I found decent ASIO drivers. Still it's not 100% rock solid and I've learned the hard way to save everything constantly.

I prefer Logic8 though I ain't going to spend the money for my home studio.

SX3 with the last update was pretty solid,I've only stopped using it 'bout 7-8 months ago.Right now I'm using Ableton 7 with Sonar 7 (before anybody says anything stupid:no,they're not warez) and I had only one crash so far,whilst with C4 is like ctrl-s every 5 minutes
