HEADHUNTER : Bristol/UK : Tempa FWD Planet Mu Tectonic Ascension Hench
Headhunter first made his mark in Dubstep by starting a label, Ascension, with Tech Itch in early 2006. Soon after 2 releases were in rotation, Tempa, the genre's pioneer label soon made the link to sign him exclusively.
Hailing from one of dubstep's landmark cities; Bristol, Headhunter's crafted a unique and distinctive style that reflects the soundsystem-inspired culture of his hometown and does justice to its rich musical history. With 2 Ep's released on Tempa and a string of remixes of producers such as Martin Buttrich, Brendon Moller, and Antix- the winter of '08 will see Headhunter focus on the anticipated release of his album on Tempa, as well as forthcoming collaborations and remixes with Kryptic Minds and Leon Switch.

BOMBAMAN : Toronto : LoDubs Dubplatelet Subconcious Aufect
Bombaman, aka Matt Carl, aka one half of the dubstep duo Loetech with XI, from Toronto, Ontario. As Kid Kameleon put it in his column "Basic Needs" in the December 2007 issue of XLR8R, "Bombaman makes dark, weird, boundry pushing music for you to meditate to in a club with large speakers." These days, he is working on making sure his beats live up to that expectation. Always looking for a new way to mangle subbass, you can find Bombaman pushing out new music every week in the form of 4/4, electro tinged dubstep.
With forthcoming releases on LA Dubstep Nostra, Lo Dubs and Badman Press, and releases are already available on Lo Dubs, Aufect Recordings and Dubplatelet you can be sure there is a Bombaman sound suited to you. You can hear Rusko, Diplo, 12th Planet and many other topshelf DJ's playing his music these days. You can also catch Bombaman & XI live on STREAMIZM! every Tuesday 7pm-9pm here: http://www.streamizm.com

DABBLER : Van : Lion Dubs XS Records Hustlin Beats Automatic
Some say Drum'n'Bass is dead.. Meanwhile there's still plenty of musical territory to explore, and producers and DJ's still innovating and pushing the sound. For this night, Dabbler will showcase his "half-time" or "half step" D'n'B, a micro-genre that first named itself right around the time Dubstep started realizing its identity, along with the other "experimental" sides of the genre. For local Junglist's, this will be a chance to hear Dabbler rock something a little different for the dancefloor. A mix of deep bass and dub vibes at D'n'B tempo.
Originally inspired by Vancouver legend DJ Czech's fusion of breaks and bass lines, Dabbler started playing breaks and house. After hearing Jonny L's "Sawtooth LP" he was drawn towards Drum and Bass and never looked back. Shortly after his transition, Dabbler was playing several times a week and became well known in Vancouver for his unique mixing skills and varied style. Since that time, Dabbler has thrown some of Vancouver's biggest and best Drum and Bass shows, and has played alongside nearly every major name in DnB. He was a resident of Vancouver's early rave companies, Twisted Productions, and later as a part of Automatic, Canada's longest running DnB weekly. Through this involvement, Dabbler has played with celebrated international artists such as Shy Fx, Pendulum, Dillinja, and Zinc to name only a few. Constant exposure to these artists led to a new desire to create his own sound. Finding new inspiration in Reggae and Dub, Dabbler signed his first track "Ali Baba" to Toronto's quintessential imprint, Hustlin Beats. Around the same time, he finished a bootleg remix with Vancouver's Pioneer DJ and Producer Pacific, which was quickly scooped by XS Records in the UK. An international bestseller that year, in only a few months it pushed his name to the front of DJ's crates all over the world. Both his released and unreleased tunes have received support from artists like Visionary, Kenny Ken, Muffler and Benny Page, and have led him to his most recent signing of "Future Riddim" to Marcus Visionary's Lion Dubs label. Recently he has begun moving towards more traditional Reggae and Reggae/Dub influenced Uptempo tracks. These days you can expect to hear a slice of Skanking Beats & Breaks, mixed with occasional oldskool Hip Hop and Roots Reggae.

CURE : Toronto/Van : Aufect Lighta! Pressing Issues
Originally from London Ontario, Patrik Walters aka DJ Cure is originally known for his earlier Drum and Bass ventures. With the dream of one day being a DJ, Cure started collecting records at the age of 16. It started out as an addiction to underground Hip Hop, then Techno, Electro, Jungle and DnB. Finally in 1999 he bought his first pair of 1200's. Since then, Cure was booked at virtually every Jungle event in London. It wasn't long until he started a string of successful events and club nights. By 2002, Cure was constantly playing in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and anywhere in between. He has shared the bill with industry icons such as Dieselboy, Concord Dawn, John Rolodex, Kenny Ken, Ed Rush, Capital J, Marcus Visionary, Illfingaz, Martyn, Joe Nice and Ben Sage to name a few. In 2004 he appeared on MTV's "Don't try this at home" tour. Around that same time he was starting to really take interest in Grime and early Dubstep. When 2006 rolled around Cure had become obsessed with the sounds of Grime and particularity Dubstep coming out of London, UK. Cure joined Pressing Issues Recordings [ http://www.pressing-issues.com ] that summer, and is still representing as a DJ, Promoter, and A&R. In August of 2007, after feeling like he had reached his limits in Ontario, he decided to transplant to the wild west coast, and settled in Vancouver with the intent of starting his own record label. In 2008 Aufect Recordings was born.

HEXADECIBEL : Van : Aufect Trill Bass
hex·a·dec·i·bel ::ˌhɛksəˈdɛsəbəl :: [hek-suh-des-uh-bel]
Bedroom producer turned DJ, who has been amassing a healthy catalogue of tunes over the past 2 years, that he's itching to unleash on Dubforms. His style can best be described as deep, evocative, funky, jazzy, eclectic, haunting, and many other superlatives that could never truly do justice to the music this man creates. Those that have heard, know, there are very large things on the horizon for him, with his tunes being played by heavyweight DJs around the globe. Look for his tune Resist! to be the original track on a forthcoming EP on TRiLLBASS recordings, featuring remixes by Mayhem, DZ & the TRiLLBASS boys. There are many other releases slated for him in 2009 on numerous record labels, so keep a close eye on his website.. Also, be on the lookout for new label Aufect Recordings, out of Vancouver, which will also feature his works and those of many other gifted producers in the BASS world.

Aufect 001 see's Canadian innovators Loetech haved teamed up with North Americas hottest export DZ to deliver the A side entitled "Issues". Hailing from Toronto, Loetech members XI & Bombaman are currently on fire with their collab and solo efforts. Ottawa/Vancouver based wiz kid DZ cant keep his records on the shelves. On the flip, DZ teams up with Threesixty under their alias High Deaf to serve you with "Good Music". A nasty little piece consisting of morphing, tear out bass, sitting on the deepest 808 kicks, with a snare that with smack you in your mothers face! BRADY MARKS + SOUNS : Van : Inter_mission Environments
Brady Marks, together with Souns, are designing a lightening program exclusive to this night only. This will be a completely fresh projections set-up for dubforms. that is all.
Brady's fluid attributes extend far beyond her liquid exoskeleton and her nurturing attitude towards compost worms. Her independent/collaboratively engineered environmental interlacing is evident in much of her webbing and audio secretions. She works away furiously in her cloud laboratory to thicken the green soup of virtual reality just enough to remind us of what we are really tasting, being careful of course to ensure that we don't choke on the big bytes, or get hung up on the crackers. Brady has lived in Vancouver for a number of years, and is a founding member of the octa-grouping known as intermission. She is a rare example of someone who is able to embrace metamorphosis, and is already embarking on the next evolutionary step of transcending binary.
http://www.inter-mission.org/bradymarks.html
Souns is an "ambient/etc." project from Michael Red. The words "ambient/etc." are used to describe sounds ranging from hyper-minimal tones and pure textures up to soundscapes supported by dub bass-lines and quiet rhythms. Souns takes roots in the elemental songs of water, wood, wind, fire, metal, dreamtime and the unseen world. The message is of light and evolution. ..translated into the visual realm.
