safe all
I'm sort of a newcomer, been registered on here for a year or two but only just started checking the boards out recently due to a change in job (more browsing time. bonus!)
Been spinning tunes for 6-7 years now, started on House and US Garage at 15, did some hip hop and d'n'b, then started doing Grime sets with a few crews of MC's around 2003-2006.
Without really knowing it, I was dropping a good amount of Dubstep beats in the Grime sets I was doing, tunes like Request Line and my old fave Officer (Coki). As the Grime bubble burst I ended up playing more and more Dubstep in Grime sets until they became 'Dub with a hint of Grime' sets.
I also produce, but not to the same level that I DJ at, still learning and buzzing off all the essential advice I've picked up on this board so far.
My beats and a few mixes are @ www.adammac.co.uk if anybody is interested
EZ

All things must pass....
I have been lurking on this board for years, but finally made a login name in order to post the flyer for a night my friends and I were putting on for oneman in San Francisco. (big up, oneman!)
I cant remember what the the first dubstep release i bought was, but the Grime2 comp. on Rephlex and midnight request line were up there. Ha!
I am currently really feeling *that steppy/techy sound* that people seem to be gravitating to so much these days.

Hey guys. Im fairly new to Dubstep. Only started listening to it about a month or so ago. Im totally hooked. I cant get enough actually. Im living and breathing it. Its not that big here in Adelaide (Australia) but thats about to change if I have anything to do with it. The scene in Sydney and Melbourne (as far as i know) is defintely a lot bigger and growing exponentially. Weve had a few UK boys out here recently but I missed all of them as I had no idea what Dubstep was. DAMMIT!
I have to say no other genre has ever moved me as much as Dubstep. Its fucking fantastic!! Thankyou Croydon. You fucking rock!!

Hello- and thanks!
I'm a newcomer to this forum. I create my own music purely for pleasure;
http://www.myspace.com/joythroughdisobedience
which might be some kind of dub-step, or might not be, and work as a visual artist whose work has been recognized within the 'occult' underground of England- I am most enthusiastically available for commissions regarding anything to do with electronic/entheogenic music(k)- never mind your budget;
http://www.myspace.com/sidereality
I have been having a good look through the posts, and have found more good music than I could possibly find the time to listen to. I have also learnt hugely from the production tips, and am now especially grateful for the fact that I can actually make my own bass synths with true PRESENCE. So a big thank you to all contributors, and especially to those who take their time to moderate.
At 38 years of age, I am probably too much of an old fogey to be listening to DubStep. But hey, I live in Stokes' Croft, Bristol, where it is the only recognized religion after Orisha and Vodu! Since my conversion just a few months ago (I otherwise obsess over the more entheogenic side of industrial, such as Meat Beat Manifesto, Coil, PTV etc.) my bass bins have been pushed to their limit 24/7 every day.

Violent music for a peaceful world
hello! i'm Brent. i've been mostly into drum and bass since around 1994, while also listening to nearly every kind of music. i'm 31 and currently living in West Virginia. I KNOW! believe me. i first heard true dubstep music back in probably 2006. i thought it was good at the time. as i started listening to more of it, mostly this year, it's now replaced dnb as my favorite music. i just started buying vinyl with plans to teach myself DJing. after the order i'm placing on the 15th, i'll have around 80 records. i'm just getting started! ;]
i've been reading random posts for about 3 weeks. i felt the horror as the site went down. now that it's been back up, here i am registered. good times!

I went to my first dubstep night here in Manchester in May 2007 and I got completely gobsmacked! For once, I could have never imagined before that I could have such a good bounce at such seemingly slow music (being the junglist that I've been for the past 17 years). So yeah hooked ever since, I can nowadays only listen to dubstep on internet radio and the various mixes I get hold of or do myself. Jungle still excites me of course but you dont get much new stuff from that side.
so yeah i've been djing since 2001 (jungle and dark DnB and from this year dubstep too - either way bouncing behind the decks
), I've been producing a bit too (unclassifiable!) and have been doing a podcast for Dubearth featuring new / unknown producers from all over the planet, from the dubstep but also jungle, ragga, techno, metalcore, hiphop scenes.
i was shocked to find the forum closed last Sunday and I'm definitely relieved to see it reopened now, as i m sure everybody else on here is too!
maximum respect!!

Hi,
I'm 28 and from Manchester. Used to DJ deep/tech house and broken beats around my uni days, playing the odd gig until I couldn't afford ridiculous amounts of vinyl any more.
Been lsitening to dubstep since the beginning of this year, and producers like Benga, Skream, Headhunter, Ramadanman, Pinch, Stenchman and loads more have inspired me to enter the world of laptop DJ-ing, having last mixed with vinyl about 2 years ago.
I'm currently using Virtual DJ without an external mixer, and thus haven't yet managed to put together what I would term a "near perfect" mix, (ie. acceptable for distribution, as totally perfect mixes are virtually impossible).
As soon as I do get one I'm happy with, I'll get it uploaded, in the meantime, I'm looking for a really budget-priced mixer that will run with my existing XP laptop and Virtual DJ 5.0. Any reccommendations?

same stuff as everyone else - I like dubstep because huge bass is awesome. Been making music for about 8 years, used to make ambient stuff, then moved through to dub house and that - loving dubstep because its so heavy without being too busy - the freedom to flip between the 70 and the 140 is where most of the innovation is I reckon.
I do a radio show in Sydney too. Its fun.
anyway, enough crap. Good to be on board.
