Gerrard was a disgrace last night.

by the letter of the law, that was a foul, man.
I have never read the rule that says 'you must award a penalty if saint stevie g dives in the penalty area', man.
contact made on the player without playing the ball = foul. don't give a fuck if you're gerrard or frank sinclair; just how it goes. sounds like you haven't player the game,
man.
Yeah, never played it at all
You are talking shite, there was accidental contact and gerrard dived to make the most of it. End of, boy.

had the ball been on the floor still would've been a foul. accidental or not - end of the day a foul is a foul...

You are clueless. Even the most hardened Liverpool fans knew it wasn't a pen and gerrard dived. However they should have been awarded a pen earlier so it balanced out in the end.

So why wasn't it just a foul on Gerrard then?
This was never ever a penalty and every Scouser in the world knows it.

ahh what's the point?
football would be boring as hell if they introduced those video referees that that tnuc blatter mentioned a while back, we'd have nothing to argue about...

it is annoying...i like football like how i like any sport...im a palace fan but not hugely bothered about anything save for the game being entertaining...they often spout total bullshit about penalties, offsides etc...totally biase whereas bbc have more class than that

I am always amazed by the lack of any depth in the analysis, half these guys played for 15 years or so at the highest levels under some great managers and have virtually nothing interesting to say about a game, especially tactically.

football punditry and commentary just confounds me. how can it be so bad across bbc, itv and sky. the bbc irk me in particular though because its my money which is paying for these fools to talk about football and yet they only serve to infuriate me with their inane ramblings. hansen is a parody of himself and alan shearer is appallingly dull (as he always was, which begs the question, why on earth is he on tv?). but its shearers inability to analyse a game which really annoys me because every week on MOTD he seems to run out of ideas and then show a clip of a striker choosing not to "gamble". GGGGRRRR it makes me angry just writing about it
i think david pleat is coming in for a bit of unwarranted criticism though. i came to the conclusion a few years ago that hes just an old man that makes old man mistakes and cannot pronounce foreigners names, but if you look beyond that and listen to his reading of a football game its far more knowledgeable than any other other football commentator.
id say the only good people ive seen/heard are james richardson, gordon strachan, martin o'neill and david pleat. oh and i once saw henry winter on john barnes football night and thought he was impressive. perhaps tv should invest more in sports jounralists who write for reputable newspapers.
** i dont even have sky but when i go to the pub to watch football and i hear jamie redknapp he just makes me want to leave immediately.

i think this too. His style seems well out of place on ITV.
I reckon Chris Kamara is alright too - Unbelievable Geoff!

actually yes i forgot about marcel. hes good as he's determined to get his point across and doesnt worry about disagreeing with his fellow pundits. although everytime hes on i swear hansen just takes the piss out of him... i think he feels threatened... and rightly so.

dang! i think o'neil is the best pundit on the scene, hands down. i reckon they should just have him and lineker run the show.

footballs about opinions i guess and no doubt that o'neil knows his stuff and it's interesting what he's saying but he got a bit too wordy in his punditry of the euro's and i started shutting off

MON is a god. All hail MON. He does sometimes have a tendency to try to speak in an overly complicated manner which can sometimes make him quite tricky to understand. Even he seems to struggle to keep up with himself sometimes!
