chillout/ambient dubstep?
I'd have looked at the more ambient sounding end of dubstep - but I think we're all using the term ambient fairly loosely here.
Normally I'd have said ambient stuff was almost entirely beatless and more akin to something like meditation music, or incidental music.
Surely it's a case of doing our best to understand the thread starter than it is to merely point out how off-the-mark people are with their genre categorisations.

BURIAL
IMO he creates the best ambient vibes around, really no need to not large him up right here. i am so interested in what he is going to do in the future
but yea check all these out.....
Innasekt - archtype (chill but drill at the same time, pretty intresting)
2562 a lot of the time is pretty ambient but in a housy way. check "circulate"
warlock - cellar door
vaccine - aneasthetic
darkstar - saytar
off the top of my head
but just browsing all the online shops will be the best way to find tracks you like

i read what wikipedia says about ambient and there was pretty much everything i knew already but i still don't get you. if i remember right the seafront is quite hectic tune with all the blings and blangs and samples and whatever. isn't that the exact opposite of ambient? tell me, i wan't to know what you meant whan you said 'doesn't get more ambient'Spaniard wrote:Look up definition of ambient and get back to me bruv. i wuldnt really call seafront "ambient". its more jazzy? i dunno, i see why you would say that cuz the vibe is somewhat relaxed and floating.

On the "chill" side of things I'd have to suggest most of L-Wiz with their live keyboards and really clean, rounded production. "Toasted" by Reso is a really sick jazzy melodic tune. Escapee Planes is worth checking out, as well as the warm, housey vibes of Martyn. Cyrus is more minimal than chill, but he needs more credit then he gets, both making super clean sounds and just building effective tracks.
Great tunes!
I really like the Intex Systems and Vaccine stuff, almost IDMstep in a way (some of the Intex stuff is straight up IDM in my opinion, but I listen to a LOT of that stuff so it's all good in my book).
Oh, and as for a recommendations, one tune I love is Kromestar's "Zion Dub"
(on that note-the vocal sample is taken from Damian Marley and Nas's "Road To Zion", right?)
