South West London heads....
I've recently moved home to Kingston only to find that Slammin Vinyl/Cage records has become a sandwich shop or something.
Anyone know what happened?
Also did the shop ever have any link with the promoter? Always wondered that...

The first and only time that I went to slammin Vinyl in kingston was in about 1997/1998 (Envoy what Aphrodite tune did you buy, Was it peace, love and unity?)so I can't really say when it closed, but i can tell you that it had nothing to do with the raves and record label as I asked my mate who plays old skool about that ages ago and he gaveme the low down.

the rise of UKG (they were slightly off the pace)
the death of hardcore
and the fact they never made a website
as delsa says the shop and the promoter were dif things (but in the early days red alert etc.. did have a finger in the shop, but as things moved on Jimmy J bought the shop outright but was allowed to keep the name.) Eventually Slamming Vinyl Promotions grew bigger and amalglamated with the other big hardcore promoters.

I thought Jimmy J had something to do with it, cheers. I remeber going in there to buy Hardcore tapepacks when I was a youth...
