Even if it's not illegal it's probably ethically unsound.

I think the debate with regards to free downloads - i.e. obtaining music without rewarding the artists for their work - is open to some extent.

However, Russian websites actively making money of other people's hard work is another story.

Mr Hyde wrote:True- you could debate that most of the artists on there have loadsamoney and this helps get their art out there to people that otherwise wouldnt buy the CD, perhaps it encourages more fans who will buy the CD's at a later stage. And perhaps the money goes to provide Russian children with food rather than record execs with Bentleys.
So, if the profits from (for example) slave trading went to provide Russian children with food, would that be OK?

more importantly than the whole mp3 debate, please tell me you didn't register and give your CC details. if so, check your account everyday. these sites are notorious for CC fraud. example: you submit your CC today, and next thing you know you've got hundreds of pounds of purchases in southern china tomorrow, because someones stolen your number ,made their own CC and are happily shopping with it in beijing.

Good point.

If they don't give a damn about copyright law, then what makes you think they're above credit card fraud?
