feedback sharing thread anyone?

Post by gambledub » Wed Nov 26, 2008 1:48 am

would anyone be keen for a feedback sharing thread? the only rules are to post a track to recieve feedback, you must give feedback on somebody elses track (maybe comments, suggestions, construstive critisism etc.) to avoid looking like im trying to shamelessly self promote myself the first person to reply can post their track up for feedback (you will still have to give feedback to someone else though :D )
any takers?

If this thread can get going it would be dope. We had a thread titled "One Of Those Tunes" that lasted all of a week. Seems like most people aren't into sharing feedback, offering constructive criticism, putting themselves out there to be criticized, etc

I'm game though. Lord knows I need help, and I am happy to help others.

Insomnia I started Wednesday night, and M4SS1V3 I threw together quickly tonight so that I would have at least 2 newer tracks up there with half way decent percussion, at least in comparison to the other tunes up there  ......

Feel free to tear them apart, all I ask is that you give some constructive stuff to go on.....

I don't think I have much to critique on that one, at least nothing that stands out to me. The only thing that feels different to me is that the vocals feel like they belong on a much darker tune than this.

Sorry I don't have more for you.

That was done Sunday night, about two hours worth. It's finished now just gonna finalise the mix tonight for playing tomorrow.

Appreciate thoughts on the power of the bass/beat if anyone has got a serious system. Tested it in the studio and in the car and it's sounding strong as fuck.

manray:
The percussion is really nice, the bass, while heavy, is pretty standard.

Johnny Beat:
The vocals are awesome! Bringing back memories of my hardcore fanship. This sort of thing could sure use some 'evy grimey bassline tho.

ChrisH:
My mates computer must be missing some codec/FF plugin, but I was not able to listen to your tunes:(

Here's a tune i made a long time ago, I am still lacking ideas and inspiration to finish it off tho:

Particularly(sp?) pleased with the last 16 bars, which should be the part before the 2nd drop.
EDIT: whoops, forgot the m in "manray"

Cheers, Yeah I know the bass is a bit over done already but fuck it :)

Like the beat on your track, very different, like the clicky and shuffling of it but I would re-arrange it a bit.

Take those last few bars and make that the intro because your current intro is a bit boring. That glitchy vocal sound I think would be a very interesting intro. You can then use it again before the second drop but play around with it some more.

Dunno if this is a low bit-rate mp3 or something but alot needs doing on the sound quality, its way too mushy in the mid-range if you ask me :)

Some constructive criticism would be nice on this one, and I was wondering if everyone (using decent speakers) can hear the 45 Hz Sine wave?

edit: Brisance i'll have a listen to your tune properly when not using macbook speakers but it sounds pretty filthy. like the warped vocals reminded me right near the end of that JSRF game, or old skool hardcore from '91

the 45Hz sine is barely audible, but the sub is chilling my feet with wind tho:) Can't really come up with any critique(other than for my taste it should be a bit darker  ) would fit awesomely as a soundtrack for something, it would look awesome accompanied by some weird, artistic video.

Since I already wandered to this thread, I will post something too

was trying to do something different with my friend today, the name is a keyboard mash:)
EDIT: btw we tried to avoid using wobbles, but guess, what we ended up with

Added a new song that I worked on for much of the day "Are you high?". Feedback is appreciated.

I like much of the elements of the track but it gets boring quite quickly as there isn't much variation and seems to move along too slowly.

I think it could do with a bit more variation in the beat pattern, bring the different elements in and out a bit quicker, chop it up so it doesn't sound like a big loop if you see what I'm saying.
