Is layering in sound forge possible?

Post by porsol » Thu Nov 27, 2008 4:15 am

I know it's not a multitrack program, but is there a way to layer sounds somehow?
would you rather read this or get busy making tunes?

from what i remember of my limited usage of sound forge. it is posible to have multiple windows open within sf, each with a different sound, you can copy each sound individualy and use the paste mix to layer your sounds

Never used soundforge, but in audacity you can just use multiple tracks

Mix paste.

It is destructive though.

Out of interest, why are you wanting to do this?

To be a genius like burial!

What is mix paste? I have used Sound Forge for like 8 years I never knew you could do this. I assumed burial was full of shit. I could see making his tunes in Acid maybe. I dunno.

if memory serves you just drag one file onto another while holding shift or ctrl or alt (can't remember which one, i'm not at home at the moment)

there's also a way to do a gradiated mix where you basically fade from one sample to the other. this might also be covered by one of the key combinations above

i've read of burial, but no..not my intention. Just trying to layer vocals as an experiment. Just downloaded audacity, and it's a lot easier. Thanks all for your insight!
