Does this mean I can use my crack pipe in my local pub again?

this

plus i quite like nipping out for some "fresh air" and a ciggie... with the ban, we now have loads more clubs and bars with outside spaces just to have a little natter and catchup before plunging back in - mixes people up a bit more and makes them loads more sociable rather than just all sitting/standing in one group/place... normally stabbing me in the arm with the molten cherry of a flailing cigarette (god i really dont miss pissheads dancing with cigarettes)

It kinda kills nights when half the people are outside rather than inside dancing though.

As a non smoker I prefer it smoke free, but I was also for clubs/pubs having an option to be a 'smoking' place or not, then it is your choice whether you wish to go there or not.

tbh, as a smoker i prefer it to be smoke free.... and yeah it is really irritating at nights when people decide to spend all night outside - but then if they are happy to spend a tenner to stand outside all night in the cold, half hearing the sound system, that's their choice really. I prefer going back and forth and talking to more than one group.

The few nights I've had since eg: in the Dam, where smoking was still allowed, brought it all flooding back to me and i didnt realise how much nicer it is now. i would really not like to go back to that everywhere - but not being able to smoke: e.g. within 10metres of an entrance or in a bloody great big sideless tent is just silly...

Yeah, this. It's like banning asbestos or using heavy machinery without safety guards or whatever, it's just that it makes life a bit inconvenient for more people.

this reminds me - is anything happening with that petition to reduce noise in working environments? there were rumours of it a few months ago and it's pretty worrying - means most clubs could barely pack much more punch than a home system in order to protect their staff

Surely they could give the staff industrial ear protectors in that case? Otherwise things like steel mills just wouldn't be allowed to operate.

yeah thats what i thought orignially - but apparently it was the wording of the petition that specified the exposure specifically in enclosed entertainment environments.... it was a mate with a system that mentioned it and was really concerned - but i havnt heard anything so i can only assume it must have fizzled out

It is wierd, even smoking indoors doesn't seem right, when I smoke in my room, I feel like I should go outside. Although I do miss the days in the winter when it was allowed.

yeah the smokefree legisaltion was primarily aimed at protecting bar workers and the public from passive smoking, but was also a massively important public health initiative to reduce smoking rates in the population in general

which it has...1 year on the quit rates through NHS services were up about 25%

there's no way they will go back on it - its been far too successful

I don't mind it in pubs tbh. I used to stink like fuck. Honestly, I could smell myself when walking home. And the smoke just got in my eyes at a certain point resulting in bare burning.

And for me to be sayin that non smokers and people who work in pubs must have been q pissed.

I q enjoy going outside the pub for a peaceful cigarette, also it is nicer as I don't chain them so much and go out for one after my pint is finished, making it extra nice.

In clubs though ye it is annoying as fuck, but mostly you can get away with it. Only had 1 bad experience when I sparked up in the end near the speakers and the bouncers removed me :?
