Kicks, Snares, Sample Packs.

Post by apathesis » Fri Dec 05, 2008 9:06 am

I'm looking to get some good sounds to build on, since someone recently gave some good advice about starting with the best sounds you can, and at the moment I'm definitely not lol.

Would anyone recommend some good sample packs with nice drum sounds?

Get hold of drum sample from Goldbaby. They have the best 808 sample pack ive heard so far (props to Deadly Habit for the recommendation). Theres also some freebies on their site:

Just get loads of drum samples, good & bad. then layer up three kick and a hi hat, eq and process each individual drum hit. Then add an eq, compressor etc to master channel and bounce as 1 drum hit. do this with snares and other stuff.

i like the samples that came with the dubstep issue of computer music rom the other month personally. best service drums overkill, has a lifetime supply of drum, kicks, snares, cymbals, hi-hats & vice versa, it's just a matter of going through the thousands supplied, to find the ones you like.

The Dogs On Acid board always has a few knocking around. I got all my sounds for free, pretty much of magazine covers or off the good ol' internet. There used to be a sick website 'bourbon breaks' as well that had all the old drum breaks on it. Don't know if it still exists but have a look...
