Benga “Diary Of An Afro Warrior” (Tempa): I’ve talked about dubstep several times here. The genre never seemed like a good bet for a full album. Dubstep is a d.j.’s genre, where producers provide d.j.s with fragments which are then assembled into a whole on the dance floor. Giving consumers a complete narrative has not generally been a big concern—one should, literally, not try this at home. But Benga went and made an album that you can listen to like an album, front to back. That’s weird.
