Yeah I think it's just down to layering the right sounds together. If you get a nice weighty sub under everything, a nice crunchy mid with res and maybe a bit of overdrive/distortion you can get the fundamentals of that sound. Then i'm sure with some well done EQ you can get it all sitting nice and tight.

What VST / software do you use for doing the stuff discussed?

The wavey type thingy you talk of could be some phasing on the mids, maybe a tremalo?
I've been getting some pretty sweet sounds from thor after using it for the first time last week. Crack Hands and Ghost are both examples of this..http://www.myspace.com/JAYOUDROPS

i use my hardware micron mainly and bounce to audio to shortcircuit or just work in clips if onboard isn't doing itRemy wrote:What VST / software do you use for doing the stuff discussed?
i try to keep my methods generic so can be applied to any synth/plugin since it sounds like a basic technique
better to learn then clone everything
yeah man. i've been using thor for my sounds recently. Also the presets on ES2 (logic) have some pretty cool sounds. Two of my tunes ghost and crack hands were both made using sounds from thor.
As for movement, you could use phasers, flangers, tremalo, autofilters (camelphat has some real sweet presets). Just basically fuck around but always making sure your source sound is decent and you wont go far wrong.

he does all those square wave sounding synths in albino3. search on youtube for 'rusko producer masterclass' and watch vids 3 and 4.
after watching those vids i made a clip of a tune sounding a bit like one of his in about 30 mins, which can be heard here: http://www.zshare.net/audio/53036559839e7d91/.
he uses all 4 oscillators in albino, changes the octaves around and seems to just select random waveforms until he gets a sound he likes. he also sets one of the 4 to a low sine wave and uses that as the sub bass. sounds like for this woo boost one theres quite a bit of distortion or somethin, sounds quite grainy

as this is my first post...i thought it might be a bit risky replyng to an old thread like this...physical wrote:he does all those square wave sounding synths in albino3. search on youtube for 'rusko producer masterclass' and watch vids 3 and 4.

but everyone i know has been going on about 'the rusko masterclass'...
i myself used acid for a longtime, and as many people rightly commented rusko sound has a lot more 'grizzle' then lets say if me or you tried to make it..they key to this is...hes using the distortion on the channel the vst is on...acid has a very warm inbuilt distorter...it keeps subs warm and mid ruff...
so many people are puzzled as to why their synth doesnt sound like his even tho theyeve followed the tutorial step by step....some people even went to the extremes of print screening and pausing the video to see his setting
