haven't we been here so many times before tho? who are we as listeners and/or consumers to DEMAND that artists release their dubs ay-sap?

surely it is just as enjoyable to hear it in the club - once, twice, three times... retains that special quality. ownership is not the be all and end all of good music is it?

You've got the right idea to a point... if you don't like it, don't support it. If you like it and don't like the practices that go into it, use your own moral compass. That is my point. I don't think pirating music is the solution. But I don't think you really meant that part, correct?

as far as releasing their own music is concerned, a producer owes you absolutely nothing. pure and simple.

It can take a long time for tunes to hit wax that have been cained by top flight DJ's!!!

But....... That wont stop me buying them, if its a massive tune to start with then its a massive tune Full stop............

Wen tracks like Road Rage hit wax i will buy it coz i've always loved the track and i get the chance to put it in to my sets and mix it how I want to hear it!!!

Its all good saying they've been cained, but half the time these tunes dont even get to the second drop on radio shows and raves, or you wont hear the intro due to the mix??

Its about buying the track and seeing what YOU can do with it (if your a DJ)!!!

And what is the problem with accepting that different labels have different business strategies?? Some labels rely on tracks doing their rounds on dubplates, and others wont sign those tunes. Different labels, and probably different customers - but I don't see the vinyl labelowners complaining about how much stuff there is digitally available!

It looks like some people in this thread are asking that a tune wont get promoted/advertised before the actual release are in the shops, can't you see how silly that sounds? And why can't your dj-friend have the advantage of being the first one playin' that tune they got straight from their producer-friend?

tune -> aim -> dubplate -> ... -> signed -> mastered -> ... -> tp -> hey this sounds rubbish -> (repeat x4) -> shit our pressing plant shut down -> ... -> ... -> switching distro -> ... -> press -> distro -> shop/chemical/redeye

you could cut the dubplate step out but it wouldn't really help much.
