Hardware used in jungle era?
Hey Im interested in producing jungle similiar to its sound during 93-95. I was wondering does anyone know what where the main parts of hardware used for this genre at that time? like what synths, samplers etc.

I know Dextrous (King of the Jungle) used an Atari 520STFM and some Casio keyboards. A lot of producers were using trackers on old computers. Doesn't really matter what gear you use though. You can make golden era jungle sounds on anything (hardware/software, any DAW). Just chop up breakbeats anywhere from 140-170+ bpm and add some stretched 808 kicks or hoovers/mentasm for bass. Some people were probably using old Juno and Korg synths for bass too. Trying to get the same hardware would be costly as it's all mostly vintage and you'd be paying collector's prices unless you find a deal somewhere.
I got an MG-1 for free once. It's nice, but I haven't made anything with it. Just jam out on it every once in a while.

I have an emu, and it's really about the Peak Shelf/Morph filters and Gain distortion imo.Deadly Habit wrote:i really need to get an emu for the zplaneFSTZ wrote:yes and the Emu samplers as wellDeadly Habit wrote:akais s sampler series for a start
