Post by sqwol » Tue Dec 16, 2008 8:17 pm

Anyone interested in sharing tips for all the different ways to get their tunes heard and name recognized?

Most people know: myspace, virb, soundcloud... Any other good ones?

How about tips on what sites to use for selling your songs.

All recommendations on how to market your music welcome.

talking to people face-to-face and being someone genuinely cool to hang out with is #1.

make the best tunes you can. Worry about everything else afterwards. I'm no bigboy DJ but I do still get sent an awful lot of tunes, and most of them are just not good enough to play out, let alone release.

Seriously, it's not that hard to get tunes to pretty much any DJ if you really think that a) they specifically will be into it, and b) it's definitely better than almost everything else they're sent.

the way new artists break into any scene is via their music, not their marketing/networking skills. If your music is great, people will find out about and things will happen for you.

get tunes in as many diff djs mixes as possible
a nice digital clip page like myspaz, virb, or soundcloud as well
basically get your sound/tunes exposed to as much of the masses as possible and spam it around a shitload
took me years before i saw my shit in knowledge or on a commercial cd but hard work pays off 8)
tl:dr send around spam your shit if worthy as much as you can
