Right, im planning on buying a pair of eltax speakers from richer sounds. (If you go to the website, its the cheapest ones on there ^ ^) and theyre 90 watts each side (enough for me i guess) And i was just wondering if anyone knows where i can get a nice (and preferrably cheap) amplifier thats got enough oomph to drive them. I never knew how little i knew about amplifiers until i tried buying one!

Your best bet if your dead set on richer sound speakers, is get them to match an amp for you...they're always well sound and will find an amp that fits your speakers and your budget and they should sort out speaker cable for free, but you should definately think about getting a sub...

yeah u wanna make sure your speakers are biwirible if you wanna hook a sub too.

biwirible? lol at first glance I thought that was jibberish but then I figured out it was bi-wirable (actually I just pasted tronmans word into Google and it figured it out.) And now, thanks to Tronman, rather than working I am learning the meaning of a new word!

go back to richer sounds and be really pally and then ask them what they have under the counter or in the stock room, they always have dead stock and sell it at cost price.

i got my entire sound system from there matching amp and cd player so one control... and you can get some serious subwoofers for around eighty quid and i mean serious.

also you need about 15 % of your budget to go on wire believe me it makes such a difference ..imagine if iration steppas sound system used bell wire that woyuld be pure waste.

Bi-wiring your speakers will improve your sound quality, but you will need an amp with 2 speaker outputs i believe. Also you dont need bi-wirable speakers to hook up a sub

You do not need to bi-wire your speakers to run a sub, what you need is an amp which can be BI-AMPED which means it has a low voltage output which you can run into a second Amp, i.e. the one you will use to run your Sub. In most cases this will be the Amp built into you active sub

alternatively you could use a secondary output from your mixer (if you have one) into your sub's amp
