i live in stokey and this really doesn't bother me. it's a 10min bus ride to finsbury park station (victoria/picadilly lines), and the stokey train station means you are at liverpool st in 15 mins (and travelling overground is way more comfortable anyway). it's sweet as :)
i'm takin this show on the road.

oh man, if you can afford it, look for somewhere in greenwich, its really nice around there, nice pubs and a market at weekends etc. - you've also got one of the nicest parks in london, and its right on the river. for getting into town there's the 53 all the way into the centre, and you have a DLR station at Deptford Bridge (about 5 mins. from greenwich) and a Jubilee line station at North Greenwich.

yeah nice area, zone 2 too. allow the amount of christian wanderers knocking on your door at 10am on a sunday morning looking for a chat. my mates were paying about £500 per month each for a nice 2 bed flat.

Yeah, Greenwich is nice. I always feel it's a little bit separate to London, though. A mate just got a flat around there and it's very much it's own place... not that that's a good thing... and it does still have decent transport links to the centre... but didn't the OP say he wanted to live more centrally?

hahahaha yeah these are my sentiments exactly. Also, try to stay away from clapton of you do decide to move to hackney. Far to many upwardly mobile aspirational twats who have been priced out of Islington/Stokenewington moving in around here. :D

actually, dont move to london at all - move to brighton instead because

a) it's only an hr away by train and it takes that long getting across london half the time. (last train at night = 1.30am, first one in the morning 4.30am)
b) it's chilled and laidback
c) the police actually have agreements with rig owners that allow free parties
d) we have awesome sound systems
e) the beach has pebbles and wifi so you dont get sand in your laptop
f) when you go out, the only rough housing you get is cos someone is dancing about and steps on ur toe by accident... for which they are very sorry and offer you a pill to make up for it

london weighting allowance covers the train season ticket
