Your Best of 2008 List???
Ok, kiddies, we've got a few weeks left to finish off this year... Do you have a list of your favorite albums of the year - dubstep albums included, but not so much if that's all you're listening to... I'm looking for some IDM, ambient, modern classical, experimental, and Other Music alike...
If you have a last.fm profile, chime in with your list here : http://tinyurl.com/4has7t
If not, it should help you find an album that you missed... I've got 50 Lists and counting!!!
~HC
p.s. If you don't have a last.fm profile, submit here, and I'll cut'n'paste on your behalf...

Easily the best album of 2008 for me (and just in time as it was just released last week!) was Meursault's "Pissing On Bonfires/Kissing With Toungues". For those who don't know Meursault are from Edinburgh and have been turning heads with this superb album. Seriously this album will blow you away. I guess you'd call it Folky Electronica????
Anyway listen to some snippets on their myspace below...

And here's a review from Skinny Mag.........
"After a spin of this sublime record only one word will pass your lips: Magnificent."
Much like the vino of their French regional namesake, Edinburgh's Meursault have been on a lot of lips recently. So, after establishing a fervent following with a string of spellbinding live shows over the past six months, the quartet's decision to give their debut long-player Pissing On Bonfires/Kissing With Tongues another push via Edinburgh indie label Song, By Toad couldn't have been better timed. Knee-deep in folkish narratives, rousing numbers The Furnace and Lament For a Teenage Millionaire are transformed into rapacious tidal waves by the gnarling tectonic plates of electronica that underpin them. A Few Kind Words is an aural minefield and the record's immediate stand-out, laced with bombastic percussion and the screeching banshee wail of frontman Neil Pennycook. Yet, as time flies, it's gentle cutlet A Small Stretch Of Land that springs to the fore: a tortured, weeping lament bound by introspection. Make no mistake, after a spin of this sublime record only one word will pass your lips: magnificent. [Billy Hamilton]

Barry Lynn - Balancing Lakes was perhaps my favorite of the year. i loved the new Otto Von Shirach - oozing bass spasms. tons of Dino Felipe releases which is always good! Madlib - King of the Wigflip + Beat Konducta vol 6 both are great. Flying Lotus - Los Angeles was great but I liked Reset more. His mixes from this year have been fucking hot tho & on constant replay in the car. New Squarepusher blew my mind...my favorite electronic artist pushing new ideas is always good to see. New Unkle is beautiful in so many new directions as well. And Ikonika - Please was one of my favorite dubstep tracks me thinks.
This year was a year of review for me tho. Sun Ra, John Coltrane & J Dilla were most frequent. Company Flow, Melt Banana & Pink Floyd as well. and my own sounds have been increasing in quality and number which always makes me happy

Yeah tell me about it. If you're interested in buying the album I'd suggest getting it direct from the label as they're very cool people and sell their music quite cheap. The Meursault cd is £8 and you can purchase it on gthe below link with paypal....DID wrote:dude they're amazingGodflesh Fiend wrote:Easily the best album of 2008 for me (and just in time as it was just released last week!) was Meursault's "Pissing On Bonfires/Kissing With Toungues".
