course art of dubstep MCing is to make space for the tunes. but there's a difference bw chatting nice melodic rhymes that complement the tunes (crazy - MC) and shouting 'right now' a lot in a gruff voice w no rhyming (pokes - host). 2 r not the same, even w dubstep...UFO over easy wrote:In my opinion, for dubstep host and MC mean exactly the same thing. Let the tunes breathe...missused wrote:sgt pokes???? he a host, not a mc. crazy d 4 sure
So yeah, my vote goes to Pokes.

If you say so. But out of all who control the mic at dubstep nights, I like Pokes the best!missused wrote:course art of dubstep MCing is to make space for the tunes. but there's a difference bw chatting nice melodic rhymes that complement the tunes (crazy - MC) and shouting 'right now' a lot in a gruff voice w no rhyming (pokes - host). 2 r not the same, even w dubstep...UFO over easy wrote:In my opinion, for dubstep host and MC mean exactly the same thing. I prefer Pokes, good presence on the mic and good voice.. but then i prefer a host.
Personally though I dont know why people rate Crazy D so much, in the past couple of months i've heard 3 of his sets, off the breeze block, FWD and DMZ last week, he used the same lyrics all the time, dont get me wrong he has good flow.. but if a dj turned up and played the same records all the time i would soon get bored of them.

Hmm
To be honest if I have to listen to an mc I'd rather it was someone who knows when to shut up and can actually hold a tune (Crazy D)... but does this music need an mc? DnB and Garage have been overrun by shoddy shouters with nothin to say, apart from how fresh their lyrics dem, how many gyal dem a shag, man got tag, ibbidibidabada, how many brers dem a pop, quantity weed dem a shot... when the music speaks for itself. I hope the same doesn't happen to this scene. Rant over. Safe.
