He is a twat. It's funny as fuck that HMV didn't even care. That's a big 'fuck you' to Banksy.

'particular brand of artistic engagement' lol!!

I'm not sure what's worse...that Paris Hilton has an album that ppl would actually want to buy....or that someone would use it as an excuse for making a particularly unprofound "artistic statement".

"Guerilla art"......what a crock.

What's wrong with him? He's done some cool stuff..

I know the hardcore graff heads despise him.. success has it's down sides.

And why do you guys think he's making some kind of artistic statement? He's been branded an 'artist', but that's hardly his fault. He's just doing his thing. This Paris Hilton thing looks like he was just having a bit of a laugh more than anything else.

he has, but the incessant anti-capitalist politics loses some of its impact when you consider how much the fucker sells his work for

Tsk, that old chestnut. To be fair though, most of the people that are buying the art are probably pretty pretentious wankers with more money than sense, so it does seem like there's some redistribution of wealth going on, even if it ends with him.

banksy's a knob. exhibit a:

a piece of artwork by renegade graffiti artist Banksy, who has defaced a wall in Chalk Farm with a picture of a hotel maid. It's called Sweeping It Under the Carpet and "can be seen as a metaphor for the west's reluctance to tackle issues such as Aids in Africa" - or another example of Banksy's tireless self-promotion; take your pick. Banksy says the maid in question "cleaned my room in a Los Angeles motel ... she was quite a feisty lady". Presumably his next portrait will depict some poor minimum-wage sod, cleaning graffiti off a wall in Chalk Farm. Provided they're "feisty" enough to appeal to him.

Banksy has replaced Hilton's CD with his own remixes and given them titles such as Why am I Famous?, What Have I Done? and What Am I For?
Why are you famous? What have you done? What are you for?

Fucking cocksucking hypocrite.

As for being invisible, we were waiting for the 35 after FWD once and someone was hanging a banner over the bridge nxt to Shoreditch High St, which patronisingly preached to 'the masses' in their cars 'Abandon Hope (9am-5pm)'. It was probably Banksy. As Bok Bok said at the time: "you abandon hope".
