Bit of advice

Post by riska » Tue Jan 06, 2009 2:30 am

Ive bin listening to dubstep for about a year, had heard midnight request line ages ago, but was a grime head, so just heard emcees spit over it.

since i started listening to dubstep, i have warmed to certain artists' music...skream, coki, dmz, bar 9, caspa, rusko, the others and even chase and status (altho primarily dnb)

and i have frequently looked on dubstep forum for inspiration and to keep me up to date with tracks, and, i went and had a go at making dubstep....

Over the past year ive seen numerous threads of wobble, so am not about to start a new one...

But i wud like to have some help with albino 3 due to the fact, i have made nice (imho) back beats for dubstep tunes, that lack the bass line of say a...red eye...or a woo boost...(not trying to bite, they r just standout basslines in my mind). so if anyone has any help of how to make a nice sounding base...a preset like when ppl say saw sine etc, i get muddled up because i cant seem to use one in albino.

Its very difficult because all i want 2 do is get the music out ofmy head and onto the screen, anyways please reply and dont just rip the piss :)
ur hopin' that I grab the mic, I'm like, "Okeley Dokely", straight Ned Flanders, blaze trees and leave dead branches...

Read the instructions.

Learn how to use your instruments/synths.

Read the innumerable threads on bass and wobble on this and other forums/blogs/wikis.

Presets can be a useful guide to how a sound was crafted, understanding and experimentation will help you craft your own sound: much more fun.

Yes, i read some of the instruction manuals. It does seem to take a lot of effort to read though as english is obviously not my first language.
Though temporarily offset from my goals i will continue to put forth great effort.
Thank you for not ripping my poor grammar to shreds though.

track is 'aight'.

bass sounds a little thin for this kind of tune. my advice would be to program a bassline and tweek the lfo attack to fit that rhythm rather than using those long whole note wobs. And then layer some complimentary wave forms to beef up the b-line, and percussion that dances around all that.

all about unison patterns, stack em high.

It's somehow reassuring to know that in these days of automated spell checkers the intervention upon the fallacies of man by his brother is yet to be beaten.

Perhaps some advice I should take myself instead of reading topics about various different products of a pig on a dubstep forum
