Tunes that took some time to work their thing on you
Tunes that took some time to work their thing on you
I'm talking about tunes that you've ended up feeling, but which you might not have been into at first, or which suddenly made sense to you after a while of hearing them.
For me, it occured to me that I like the beats on 'Fat Larry's Skank', but it took a while.
Yours?

Burial - Untrue (whole album)
took me a good couple months to "get it". i of course found it through dubstep, so every time i went to listen to it i kept the mindset of nasty or at least "normal" dubstep tunes. never worked out.
about a month later i gave it a listen with my good headphones (my lovely grados) and an open mind, and i must say, holy shit was i missing out. that album is deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. thats an album to sit back and take in on some great speakers. you can get lost in that album.

^definitely,
for me, it was Panagea - Router / You & I, the first time i listened to the tunes i knew they were good but i didnt know how good until a couple of weeks and several listens later
same is happening with his new ones - Mosaix, Memories and the other one coming on hotflush, definite deep growers

Interesting thread.
Would have to agree with all the posts so far. Burial sounded 'wrong' to me at first listen but that quickly turned out to mean 'a new kind of right'.
I figure once you've been into music a while you start to look for that kind of wrongness. It's often a good sign. I guess, for me, it's that the best music changes your understanding of music a little (or a lot) but that inevitably takes a listen or two, unless you are 100% ready for the change.

Oooohh theres got to be loads. Quarta330 - "Sunset Dub" took me a while, but I think it was the first time I heard it on a system that just blew me away
I only just bought gemmy's punch drunk release, after managing to convince myself I didn't like it...ive now realised bk 2 the future is FUCKING amazing!!
The most ridiculous one for me though was Neverland!! I literally don't know how, like literally dont know how I didn't realise this was INSANELY heavy at first. Ended up buying it for Stuck in the end, but a few plays of the other side later and oh my fucking gosh
Wicked thread. Blatantly going to have records springing to mind all day...shall be back

To be honest when we made "Prefer To Be Plastered" i werent too sure on it, then we showed D-man & H*O*D down React Fm, they liked it an started playing it so did Distance an a few others, an it slowly grew on me over the course of a few weeks.
Theres countless tunes that back in the day i werent to keen on but love now, especialy in hip hop.

for me darkstar need you
i never really got what made this tune such a 08 headliner. but one day i was drivin around and it just caught me. like youll be drivin and youre not even really thinking about the music your just pissed off cause some dude is on the cell in front of you drivin 5 under. Then a song like this comes on and all you do is turn up the volume knob...
yes thats exactly how it happened ha
theres alot of old tunes that I liked but never properly appreciated, Blipstream, Flame, Glama, Rottan, Shattered, so alot of the bate old stuff really. Up until about 6 months ago I used to like them but not love them, now theyre some of my favourite tunes

TRG 'Back In The Days' sounded too off-beam to start with, almost like the beats weren't in time with themselves, but I love it now.
There's quite a lot of wobbler type tracks like that Stenchman one where it takes 2 or 3 listens before the way the layers work together and the stops, starts and switches make sense.
