Amon Tobin

Post by godflesh fiend » Thu Jan 08, 2009 7:50 pm

Any Tobin fans here??? This guy is an absolute genius imo and is easily the deadliest DJ/Producer I've witnessed live.

I've got all of his stuff and even a white label of his where he remixes Slayers Angel Of Death.

His last album "Foley Room" really blew me away big time and was the first where he didn't make records from records (he used a mic to record found sounds).

I'm sure most probably are aware of the above info.....but anyway big ups to Amon Tobin!

He along with Benn Jordan aka the Flashbulb is pretty much the reason I started making my own music. No one makes electronic music sound as organic as he does. I think 'People Like Frank' is one of the best things I've ever heard.

I saw him twice and he was mixing HIS own stuff into some of the darkest drum and bass I ever heard.... it was fucking insane. And he didn't miss a beat. That guy is fucking amazing, especially to mix up the 2 styles the way he did.

Hahaha....yeah I saw him when he came to Edinburgh in 2002 and played at the old Bongo Club. He made even his really beautiful mellow stuff from Bricolage sound fucking brutal and totally bad-ass! The bass was INSANE. Of course Verbal was outrageous.

Really surprised someone here didn't like Foley Room? Maybe give it a few more spins???? I adore it and really admire how he tried something different but still totally Amon Tobin. Big Furry Head is my fav from the album.......that thing is an absolute BEAST!!!!

Genius. All of it. On a sidenote, I find it mazing that he can compose for a video game and it's STILL stand-alone listening.

Gorgeous.

My biggest regret in missed shows... he played a tiny club on my home turf and I fuckin dropped the ball.
