Get Rid Of "FUNKY" as a Forum Category, Should be in "Other Music"...
This is called Dubstepforum.com ... if you're going to go as far as putting up "Funky" as a topic, add Jungle or Garage or a slew of other genres to the list.
If you're going to leave "funky" up as a category, i'm going to start posting up some funky ass pics of your mom... sorry in advance.

you dont wana see me get eeeevil...
not hating but quite surprised to see this subforum appear.
i could understand a grime subforum but to me this so called 'funky' is pretty far removed from the music that brought us all here in the first place.

Three things.
Firstly, the number of funky-related posts was beginning to really clutter up the 'other music' forum (as Dubway pointed out) in a way that other single-genre topics were not. All the sub-forums on here (from mixes to regional events) started life because they were cluttering up other parts of the forum.
Secondly, given the number of posts there have already been on this sub-forum, it seems there are a growing number of dubstep heads who are getting really excited about funky. And its this passionate excitement about the advent and rapid evolution of a new scene which sets it apart from grime or jungle.

Thirdly, if people don't like funky then, obviously, don't worry about this sub-forum. Threatening to try and sabotage it is hardly a constructive or mature response. If anything, you should be happy because it means that stuff you don't like (funky) is no longer gonna clog up the places to discuss what you do like (dubstep). Surely, everyone's a winner?Jess_is_NOT_OK wrote:If you're going to leave "funky" up as a category, i'm going to start posting up some funky ass pics of your mom... sorry in advance.

being a new scene there's going to be far more interest in funky than there is in a scene like jungle that's dead for all intents and purposes, and like you say, don't come here if you don't want to read about funky
I think this subforum is a good idea - for one, if you don't like it, you don't have to look at it. The way I see it, as we've taken an interest in the dubstep scene's evolution and that, I for one (and many others I'm sure) take an interest in this. While it's not entirely my bag there is some fresh and interesting sounds coming out of it so I'm keen to see how it develops.
can you please stop fucking saying "funky" just call it uk house and we can all get along

Its not called uk house, theres loads of House, from UK, that isn't what we're talking about here,
its Funky, some people are calling it UK Funky, some people see it as a worldwide thing & are just calling it Funky... its not up for debate what its called, the internet doesn't get to decide that.

i'm just making a friendly request to the people of the internet for them to refrain from using such cringeworthy terminology for a sound that is (by many) called uk house already
just ask kisment, tippa, ic, feva etc.

I'm not unsettled, at all.
True, people are calling it UK House, but like I said, people are calling it UK Funky & Funky.
Sometimes t mean differant things, sometimes t mean the same - this is how language works.
Its all about context, to people outside of it, 'dubstep' is cringeworthy - or just makes no sense. When I worked in a factory all the older blokes thought it was funny as fuck that I liked 'house & garage music'. Thats another thing about language, people - especially groups of people - like to play games with it - young people moreso - love giving words new, often secret, meanings. Its normal & we're not talking about fixed points on a map.
I could 'ask kismet, tippa, ic, feva' but I could also ask Marcus Nasty, Roska, N.B Funky, Fingaprint, Lil Silva. You are gonna get as many differant answers as people you ask at the end of the day.

As long as dubstep doesn't start slowing down.Badga Tek wrote:Well I guess its another strain of London-based dance music mutating a wide range of diverse influences and which is getting quite a lot of people very excited.incyde wrote:Not that I have anything against funky but why does this relate to dubstepforum at ALL?
Plus, in the past few months, I've already seen Kode, Ramadanman, Ben UFO, Geiom, Oneman, Pangaea, Ikonika/Optimum and Elgato play funky in their sets.
Think there could be some meaningful cross-pollination between funky and dubstep on the way
And also as long as the shirts and jeans crew STAY THE HELL AWAY.
