and!

If there is any song you could remix, what would it be?

And what artists would you wanna work with, if any.. be it electronical or not

Oh and the DLX remix was my tune of 08 - biggest dubstep tune since Anti War Dub
when i have a creative block i normally sample or make a new sample folder (which happens a lot nowadays hahaha)
either that or just try not to make anything or go on any music programs till i go nuts lol

as for remixing... thats a tough one, it's hard to say really, im stumped
the remix that puts a load of money in my bank?

i would love to work with so many people, thom yorke, burial, horace andy, roots manuva, page & plant, skream, FSOL, pendulum, cinematic orchestra, benny benassi, bugz in the attic, benga, massive attack, portishead, mr oizo... its an endless list really

I was wondering if you could please tell me what the relative scale is to the G phrygian mode? It would be a big help to me in creating that eastern feel, and hopefully making lots of money! Ha ha!

I am like soooo your biggest fan of all time!

Big up mate, catch you on aim. :)

When you produce, when do you use a subwoofer for monitoring purposes? Do you just turn it on to check how the low end sits in the mix, or do you leave it on the whole time? What kind of montiors and sub do you use?

just a sub, sometimes i use the reece from torrorist or distort the sub in a separate channel for a bit of mids... but for the main part thats about it... i'm no good at processing really, all the osc's, lfo's and amp's confuse the hell out of me!
i am learning though... slowly but surely

And yet again you make killer tunes!

You bastard!

Since you said you love mixing stuff down, how do you go about a typical mixdown session? Where do you start and so on?

i always start by mixing down roughly as i go along
then once the tune is done i wipe the mixer of all eq's and compressors

i start by doing the eq's on the drum channels, then get the levels for those, group and compress
then the bass, eq, group, compress
(i try and get my bass and drums equal, or i mute the bass and look to see how much the levels go down, i like to have about 3db difference between bass and no bass)

i like to keep my eq's quite simple in general so i just use the sweeps more than anything and the occasional harmonic eq on Equim by Elemental Audio (they have been bought out and are now RND, but i can't remember what its called now) to get rid of any sounds that will hurt your ears and or certain bits that make it sound sloppy

i basically get rid of anything that has no need to be in the bottom end so its just kick and bass

after all the eq's are done i normally mute the bass and drums and mix down the music and fx and whatnot by it's self and then group that too so i can get a nice overall level for all 3 parts by just using the group channels

after all that, i sometimes (all the time if its for mp3's) eq the master and then bounce

for masters i dont add anything to the overall mixdown, no eq, no compression or limiting

best thing i could say is dont just send stuff out, wait... you want to wow dj's, other producers and labels straight off the bat

also, find your own style, eg: if you like rusko/skream/burial/mala it doesnt mean you should make a tune like them, it's cool to be influenced, but dont just try and be them, cos its not gonna happen...

i get about 50 tunes a week that sound like me or like someone else, but why would i play it when i could just play my tune or whatever producer you've copied?
i used to do it a lot, and i wish i hadnt lol

This is for vinyl, yeah? Meaning you just keep it all natural and let them do their work with a clean slate?
yeah... i think Beau said it best when he told me "whats better? T-Racks and some sequencer/ sound editor eq, or a £14,000 Neve rack mount?"

never gave in an overall eq'ed or compressed master again

If you had to choose how to implement a kick and a bass, knowing that you can go either way, what would you do? Sidechain or eq? Mega kick with mega bass or mega bass with a lighter kick?
