Logic Audio / Midi problem

Post by dekoy » Sun Jan 11, 2009 5:29 pm

Easy all

Just posted this on the Logic forum but thought I'd get it up here as well in case anyone can help. I'm having a real issue at the moment which nearly has me throwing my lovely new iMac out the window so wondered if anyone can help? I'll try and explain.

I'm running Logic 8 on OS 10.5.2 and am using an M Audio Fasttrack pro soundcard. Soundcard and Mac are 6 months old.

This has now happened twice and seems to be when I get to the mixdown stage of a track and have started adding lots of automation. When playing the track back, a certain point will appear where every time the cursor reaches that mark, the cursor will skip to the beginning of a looped section. A message box will then appear saying "Error while trying to sync audio and midi".

If I don't set up a loop point the problem is avoided but of course as soon as I try to bounce the track or project, it will reach the problem point whilst bouncing and say "Logic has detected a possible conflict between one or more third party midi or audio drivers". This message also appears if I try to move each track to a later starting point which is beyond the problem point. It also crashes when this message appears. It's worth noting that the tracks themselves can be moved fine, it's when I try to move the automation there is a problem. Thinking about this both times it's happened it has been automating on the ES24.

Has anyone got any ideas? It's the most annoying thing as it's always when I'm an hour or two away from finishing a track and this pretty much writes off the whole thing. Any help would be incredible. Thanks

Got it sorted. I think it's to do with square automation lines ie. having automation going from one extreme to the other so you have a right angle as opposed to a curve. I've now found the culprit channel and deleted the automation and all seems to be flowing now. Thanks for the help though man.
