Mala - Changes

Post by apathesis » Thu Jan 15, 2009 10:01 pm

Obviously a stupidly amazing tune, mala is a genius.

However, I really don't get the little boy voice saying "I love dub music", I suppose it's well intentioned but that tune is soooo deep and it just seems really out of place to me!

Opinions? Am I being over-analytical

Fair play haha

I think I'm quite possibly considering it too much :P

im sure the vocal sample means something to mala otherwise he wouldn't have used it, but i agree that it's annoying.

incredible tune. when it comes to changes the "i love dub" is just part of the song. wouldn't be the same w/o it imo.

i get you though. some things that have always bothered me when it comes to vocal...breaks tunes that say/sample the word "funky" in it...like they have to tell you the shit is funky in case you didn't know. also, a lot of techno/house tunes that say the word "detroit" randomly throughout. i can understand an artist wanting to pay homage to motor city, but i'd rather hear it through the music.

Do you lot sayin its 'out of place' 'annoying' (!?!?!) all stand around at dances with your arms crossed trying really hard to try & look hard?

Open up! This is what you are missing from your lives! Contrast! Whimsy!

I love the sample myself. can understand why someone might not like it but without it the tune wouldn't have the same character that it does

its interesting how sometimes elements in tunes that seem a little bit odd can make the tune. it is the mark of a very good producer to have these surprising or unpredictable bits in rather than everything being too predictable and smoothed out

each to their own tho, at the end of the day its personal taste

i'm pretty sure it's not his son.

as a wider point, i'm pretty sure a lot of mala's track names and track themselves have meanings, they just dont get discussed.
