Unless people stop dancing and stop getting bored then this will never happen.

Same for every interval in the spectrum you can think of. You can take these infinite number of frequencies and combine them in an infinite number of ways, creating an infinite number of new musical combinations.

Still think we will 'run out of music?'
Lol no, I wasn't being serious.

But that's interesting, so thanks. :D

hahaha people - or maybe the majority - cant still deal with rhytmical structures that jazz has loads of left in its pack so why breakbeat based genre (though somewhat with limited tempo) should die or dry out in just few years?

the real question is that what new dubstep has offered into the palette that future (dance?) music will consist of? techno 4x4 structure is hard to beat when it comes to bringing up (more complex) ideas between or on beats, a fact that explains the success of trance music - add melodic elements and easy to dance beats with physical (trancey) bass hits for people that like dancing and melodies.

maybe we're just a bunch of future freaks clinged under one idea of dance music that clicks on us at the moment, just waiting for dubstep pinnacle to arrive so we could move on to the another movement - or just to get bitter and listen to the 'stuff when it was still good' :)

sorry in advance if its not very coherent reading or said already, stuff like this happens after six pints and some whiskey - english is not my native tongue :)

there's more than just dubstep in terms of dance music. alot of people dont even like dubstep, they say it's weird and dark, which i would agree with and it's one of the reasons why i like it. but there's still alot of stuff left, like this current trend into the 8bit sound like crystal castles, i've been really digging them lately.

and as for the suggestion that dubstep "will burn out just like dnb" - sure it is a concern and yes, no movement lasts forever, especially when it undergoes such massive transformation, delocalisation and exposure as dubstep has since Jan 06, but the future is not pre-determined and i still have faith that a lot of good people have a vested interest in keeping dustep open, original, exciting and vital for as long as they can...
I think that is true, but there are also producers who are going to sugar coat dubstep for sale to the masses. Eventually that will become the norm.
I'm speaking from my experience from the 90's...at first acid/hardcore/dnb was dark and raw, by the end of the 90's it was all daft punk and chemical brothers clones, dnb also lost it's soul. Barely anyone rocked out with a 303 and 808 on stage anymore. I saw many dj's I used to respect change their style to appeal to the masses.

All I got to say it enjoy this bubble while you still can because it will pop some day.

Hell no. There is so much more 2 come. Technology is always changing, and dance music will change with it.

I don't think it's the last major shift, as long there's music there'll be shifts. There have been bigger shifts than dubstep previously in music and that wasn't the end of it, for example, the introduction of electronic music, kraftwerk etc.
