I think these tunes are pretty decent!

Rinse them if you feel it, don't if you hate them.

I'm a dnb to dubstep crossover and, for me personally, it's a chance to do something a lot different and incorporate a vibe that is me - outside of dnb.

I know ThinKing rinses Mayhem tunes

i'd be pretty gutted if that weren't the case. yes, it's nearly impossible to touch mala, loe, 9, skream, etc, but i'd much rather listen to that than generic shit.

quite right, but for the ammount of people who embrace their music and enjoy it, there will always be an equal ammount of haters, who most probably dont even give their music the time of day to begin with

Has anyone heard the sneaky Calibre number in Blim's 3rd Rinse podcast? It's deadly. The new Instra:mental stepper on Naked Lunch sounds lush, too. And what about Mr. Breakage? The man's a wizard, end of. If the tunes are right, who gives a flying f*ck what scene the producer(s) came from?

Can't speak for BSE, but will check their slower stuff for sure...

For all the heads who are still fixated on DnB's alleged spiral into a drop-obsessed engame, go and listen to the recent 170bpmage of Calibre, Commix, SpectraSoul, S.T.Files, Breakage, D-Bridge, Instra:mental, Alix Perez, Marcus Intalex, Lomax, Eveson or Cern, to name but a few. Beautifully produced, low on drops, pure vibes and significanly better than a lot of dubstep currently being produced IMO.

And what's with all this drop-phobia anyway? Seems to me like (lots of) dubstep producers are as guilty as anyone else for fetishising big drops...

Yes but very little innovation and all tunes sound pretty much the same. Which is most peoples beef aswell I would have thought.

Mmmmmm. Lacking in innovation/all sound the same? Would have to disagree. Tunes like 'Hunter' (Instra:mental), 'Sark' (Intalex & S.T.Files) and 'Bear Music' (Commix) all meld jungle, techno and electronica influences in a pretty unique way without being at all guilty of sounding the same (if you take the time to listen to them properly). Breakage's recent DnB/jungle output has been constently fwd-thinking (the Hinds Sight EP, which came #3 in T++'s Top 10 for 2008, is a good example), and acts like Calibre (e.g. 'New Cons') and SpectraSoul (e.g. 'Buried') are making some seriously deep, minimal, rolling stuff which sounds very fresh to my ears. Even Martyn, bastion of genre-bending excellence, is chipping in with some excellent 170bpm material ('Baby Baby', most recently).

I think you're kidding yourself somewhat if you're accusing these producers of lacking in innovation/uniqueness whilst maintaining that equivalent figures in the dubstep scene are exempt from such criticisms. (Or perhaps you aren't?)

whould people think TRG, Luke Envoy, Subscape, Martyn, 501, Enei, Noah D, Komonazmuk, Balkansky, Mayhem, DZ, SPL, No Thing of Babylon System all made drum & bass before dubstep?? fuck even Noisia & Spor made some sick breaks/electro stuff that i just play inside the dance.. and dont forget one of dnb's biggest Mc's JAKES who is making everybody go mental at the moment..

so dont hate, dnb is probably also a big influence for dubstep as garage and reggae is..
