off the topic of this thread - but anyone have any idea how come some recent tracks pop up in bleep.com so quickly after the vinyl release, and about 90% of all dubstep/grime released never do - or take months and months? is it costly or risky doing it or how come the selection they sell is so small/slow compared to vinyl output?

i bet everyday theres more n more either digital dj's (like moi) or dj's using serato scratch / final scratch / etc who'd love to spend money on buying FLAC rels of the releases off Bleep.com.... u'd think it'd be worthy of sorting it out the same as vinyl releasing!

nuff love to wax, but it'll always be there - give us more digital to rinse too!!

The Planet-Mu releases usualy pop up the same day as the vinyls are released, while DMZ, Hotflush, etc are held back due to some sort of market strategy (I believe they want the vinyl to break even first). Waiting for Mud/Ruffage especially, and Hfrmx001 has taken quite some time now. Would love to see the Dub Police-stuff up there as well.

Could you expand on that? Are they planing to drop it elsewhere, or not at all?

I can't speak for Quiet Storm obviously, but he said in an interview a while back (on Southernsteppa.com) that he's not so keen on mp3s, particularly wrt filesharing etc, and he said similar things when I spoke to him about it a lil while back. I'm nothing to do with the label though so I could be completely wrong.

Who knows though? As a label-owner myself, if the download stats were good, and adequate to offset any perceived losses through p2p, I would look to sell my wares digitally as well.

I know bare people that would be on the digital download ting. There are so many people into dubstep that dont own turntables and aren't dj's that still want the tunes on their computers and in the whips. Piracy is obviously a major issue but I don't think its something you can ever eally get away from - I know people who chav the ripped vinyl wav's and mp3's from thier mates. If the tunes were available on the net to everyone it may encourage them to buy it themselves. Hopefully the demise of Limewire will help the situation.

the vinyls are most of the time on the net the same day as mp3.. but illegal.. this is why i dont get it that not every vinyl gets released in a digitial format on the same date :?
