unlikely:
"Yeah, and while your at it why don't you destroy the infrastructure and economy in their home countries so they don't have any jobs to go back to! Oh, wait, its already done? How pre-emptive."

WHO'S FAULT IS THAT???
they should have stood up to negative change in there home countries in the first place rather then running like cowards.
who is to blame?? me? you? the tooth fairy? nope!! it all boils down to corrupt and greed and unless we start seeing that, we are doomed to eventually walk down the same road.

Yes, shame on them for wanting a better life and being efficient, hard workers.
Honestly, do you think if we got rid of them all (virtually impossible) that we all would really be willing to take the jobs they currently hold on? I doubt next door neighbor 'Johhny Smith' could be peeled away from his Xbox or Blog to pick strawberries and labor @ $5.00 an hour ..no? Do you really feel that employers would rather go that route? The immigration issue is a whole beast in itself that really isn't going anywhere any time soon. I just find it amusing that it wasn't such an issue 10 + years ago when you weren't seeing lots in places like Michigan and Wisconsin..etc.

step correct...reread my original post on page one and try again.

ill add something else that should have been in my first post.

in these times, people are almost to that point to except any kind of job as long as it pays the bills. and fyi the min wage is $7.25 and with a some government tax break for hiring Americans, that money alone would bring the pay per hour up to $10.

out to americans so caught up in their own agendas that they can't even enjoy the one day that celebrates the foundation of our democratic process. understand that this day is not for our generation. it's for the civil rights generation, and the kids around 10 years old right now. they get to witness, absorb and directly benefit from this paradigm shift. it's not for us, it's for them. america will never be the same.

To the people who are dying right now, currently, not 50 years ago but 5 minutes from now... I think that those who fought for Civil Rights will understand. Obama wasn't elected to even some score racially... he was elected to end the war, fix the economy, indict and convict and then summarily execute the Bush admin et al...

What is more important honestly:

IN YOUR FACE BITCH WE WON! or CHANGE!

Be honest now. For the thousands of black males in prison right now for non-violent drug offenses, what is more important... IN YOUR FACE BITCH WE WON! or CHANGE!

Apply this to every single thing that he could be doing right now instead of wasting our money doing a victory lap. All this talk for the last couple of months about hitting the ground running. Congress has bills waiting on his desk right now. Stem Cell Research. SChip. Iraq. Economy. You'd think he might be able to delay walking back outside the White House long enough to sign them. There aren't that many waiting on the desk. Just a few. He has time to accept crystal bowls, have bigots pray, some shitty poet speak, Aretha in her silly hat. Pomp and circumstance is a good look and I understand the significant nature of this occasion. 2 Million people got a chance to watch "Change" live. Now it's time to go inside, roll up the sleeves and do actual work.

150 Million dollar parades, parties, victory celebrations. It's not about being right or wrong. It's literally about saving lives and he could be doing that right now. Talk is real cheap. He can get up and talk about crossing the aisle and hugs and rainbows all he wants. Rubber needs to meet the road and it's a Tuesday, so how about we delay our ejaculation until like a Friday or maybe even a Sunday or something. What is the most glaring error the Bush admin made... perhaps taking too long of a vacation while people died in New Orleans?

The stock market took another hit today. Asian markets crashed today. Eye on the ball. Nothing about today has made any difference at all. His actions should determine whether or not we celebrate him at all, and so far he's picked a racist and a hate monger to give a prayer, he's spent 150 Million on a victory lap while people are literally destitute in his own country, forget other countries. His own people are screwed and starving at home.

For anyone who needs a real world lesson in what 150 Million is...

15,000 people could get a 6 year Masters Degree at Harvard or Yale, including their living expenses, books, fees, classes. Martin Luther King Jr. would probably have thought it might be a much better use of that money to educate black children in adequate schools, than 10 costume changes at 10 parties that he spends less than 20 minutes at each. I'm glad the world has hope now, but frankly that hope is misplaced if he doesn't immediately start doing it. And frankly, tomorrow there might be another job lost or another person dead. And it might only be 1 job lost or 1 person dead.

That is someone's livelihood. Someone with a family. Someone with no healthcare. What are we celebrating? That Change is in the air? Fuck the air. We need real action by a real leader and we need it right this second. What was his saying "The Fierce Urgency of..."

When was it?

"NOW!" So I'm sorry if I can't stop to smell the roses. I have no agenda other than putting this guy to work from the second he is sworn in. I'd have had him sworn in November 4th at about 11pm if the Constitution had allowed it. My level of faith in this guy has absolutely nothing to do with his level of responsibility the second he takes office to begin doing the People's work.

all good points i thought...

isn't it completely without a racist mind to say what you feel about things regardless of whether the president is black or white as opposed to as was suggested earlier being happy there is a black president?

that is essentialy what this about....noone can put forward their concerns & skepticism because of the importance of the event...i do not agree with this...i knew there would be a black president...why wouldn't there be?

i say get obama out now so we can cross the next milestone as they'd prolly be a better president if they brought forward a change of the status quo..
