Be honest now. For the thousands of black males in prison right now for non-violent drug offenses, what is more important... IN YOUR FACE BITCH WE WON! or CHANGE!

Apply this to every single thing that he could be doing right now instead of wasting our money doing a victory lap. All this talk for the last couple of months about hitting the ground running. Congress has bills waiting on his desk right now. Stem Cell Research. SChip. Iraq. Economy. You'd think he might be able to delay walking back outside the White House long enough to sign them. There aren't that many waiting on the desk. Just a few. He has time to accept crystal bowls, have bigots pray, some shitty poet speak, Aretha in her silly hat. Pomp and circumstance is a good look and I understand the significant nature of this occasion. 2 Million people got a chance to watch "Change" live. Now it's time to go inside, roll up the sleeves and do actual work.

150 Million dollar parades, parties, victory celebrations. It's not about being right or wrong. It's literally about saving lives and he could be doing that right now. Talk is real cheap. He can get up and talk about crossing the aisle and hugs and rainbows all he wants. Rubber needs to meet the road and it's a Tuesday, so how about we delay our ejaculation until like a Friday or maybe even a Sunday or something. What is the most glaring error the Bush admin made... perhaps taking too long of a vacation while people died in New Orleans?

The stock market took another hit today. Asian markets crashed today. Eye on the ball. Nothing about today has made any difference at all. His actions should determine whether or not we celebrate him at all, and so far he's picked a racist and a hate monger to give a prayer, he's spent 150 Million on a victory lap while people are literally destitute in his own country, forget other countries. His own people are screwed and starving at home.

For anyone who needs a real world lesson in what 150 Million is...

15,000 people could get a 6 year Masters Degree at Harvard or Yale, including their living expenses, books, fees, classes. Martin Luther King Jr. would probably have thought it might be a much better use of that money to educate black children in adequate schools, than 10 costume changes at 10 parties that he spends less than 20 minutes at each. I'm glad the world has hope now, but frankly that hope is misplaced if he doesn't immediately start doing it. And frankly, tomorrow there might be another job lost or another person dead. And it might only be 1 job lost or 1 person dead.

That is someone's livelihood. Someone with a family. Someone with no healthcare. What are we celebrating? That Change is in the air? Fuck the air. We need real action by a real leader and we need it right this second. What was his saying "The Fierce Urgency of..."

When was it?

"NOW!" So I'm sorry if I can't stop to smell the roses. I have no agenda other than putting this guy to work from the second he is sworn in. I'd have had him sworn in November 4th at about 11pm if the Constitution had allowed it. My level of faith in this guy has absolutely nothing to do with his level of responsibility the second he takes office to begin doing the People's work.
Read THIS,then kindly shut it.Obama is ready to take care of shit.Christ man,he's been President for a mere 7 1/2 hours! You can't say he's doing nothing, just because Washington has a reputaion for inaugural grandeur(which only happens every 4 years jeeezzz...get a fucking grip). He's just going through the same motions the last 43 presidents have.

Ironically, you say talk is cheap. You chat a lot of shit, but what are YOU doing about it?As far as I can see,you sit around on this forum(I'm sure there's others you do this on as well)talking smack about anything and everything, just for the sake of hearing yourself talk.Everyone has an opinion buddy, but you seem to think yours is fact.Politics?Everyone is wrong except you.Record labels?Everyone is wrong except you.Production styles?Everyone is wrong except you.Music?Everyone is wrong except you.And so on and so forth.

Maybe you should stop and actually read what you say.You know, you don't have to post in every single thread you don't agree with. That's just fucking petty.I gotta agree with Ikari on this, you are a sanctimonious ingrate.Your unfounded and highly misinformed anger could be put to more positive avenues. But since you choose to be anti- because it's "cool" or whatever, why don't you pack up and leave,if this country sucks and you refuse to do anything to help change it?You have that right. In fact, you have that right as an American.Meanwhile, some of us(including myself) will continue lobbying for the justice, peace, and true freedoms our government has been slowly taking away.Yeah bro,I take action.Even if no one is going to notice. What's your excuse?

no candidate, and i mean none of them, have the skills to deal effectively with the amount of sheer dysfunction and corruption that faces this country in jan 2009. all we can hope for right now, at the minimum, is the reversal of the damage we have caused to our global reputation and a limited economic bailout. thats about all we can do in 2009. this country is broke, and at war.

the rhetoric against the obama/biden "hope", "progress" and "change" themes over the last two years is laughable, considering that nearly all presidential campaigns , both republican and democratic going back to Theodore Roosevelt, have used "change" as a key theme in their campaign slogans. we're talking basic political spin doctoring here. reagan, nixon, bush 1, bush 2....all spoke about "change" to get elected. lets face it....obama scares the shit out of the right wing conservative moral structure. in the literal sense he is "change", but his real power has been the psychological impact he has made in the mind of every bigot and racist in this country. for the first time in US political history, white skin doesn't automatically equate to political power. i'd say he's begun the process of removing skin color perception from political power structure...globally.

Sure, joy is ephemeral and inexplicable
so grab it while it's around I reckon.

I loved the Obamas delight in the parade...their joy occasionally tempered, ít seemed, as soldiers marched past en masse, by their realization that all of this was his responsibility.

Obama's big message for Americans must be heeded: I can't do this myself, we need to engage, give and change...ALL of us.
If people opt out and leave it all to him, they leave him subject to the whims of the military-industrial complex.

Meanwhile, surely we can be happy for one day and be optimistic for the future. Maybe take a holiday from being stultifyingly right or certain.

big up obama, i'm shit at articulating what i'm thinking about something into written words, so i'm not even going to try, but i'm very happy to see bush out, and i think i'll reserve my judgement on obama until he's settled in and begun working on stuff

Have to say I'm bloody glad bush is out and i'm sure i can't really understand how you feel over there.
Though I did find his inaugural speech mostly sugar coated nonsense... I do remain cautiously optimistic.
I remember how happy everyone was when Blair came in to power here (Change, the whole cool Britannia bollocks). There was a lot of good will, now look at our country a bankrupted Orwellian mess....
I agree with this guy on some points...interesting if not a bit long

It'll be interesting to see what the presidential motorcade looks like all tricked out with like 20-inch "rims" and that bouncy hydraulic suspension.

It's beautiful to have someone speaking as the President of the United States that speaks about things in a way I can relate to. That's a bigger thing than him being a Black Prez for me.
How to win the african-american hearts with a speech?
hire a white french-canadian to write it, it will be truly heartfelt!
