[Vancouver] - Jan 30, 09 - ABORTION @ The Fall

ABORTION

Welcome to Neo-Rave
BREAKCORE / IDM / Ravecore / Jungle / Dubstep

Image

////////

////RIDYLAN G - Breakcore/IDM
Local producer and sound terrorist.

////Colby Sparks - acid / breakcore / jazz
Vancouver born saxophonist and electronic music composer. Likes acid techno, jazz, jungle, breakcore, and occasionally dubstep. Might surprise you.

////CharlyX - Breakcore / XXX / Reckless Enthusiasm
Neo-rave DJ and producer residing in Vancouver has emerged from the underground with a lustful appetite for mutilated breaks, dubstep, and fake blood. Dissatisfied by the limited range of extreme music in Vancouver, Charly intends to bring more intense flavours from the electronic realm to the scene, on top of leaving room in his productions for the ear-friendlier genres which he loves. Also has an exotic collection of pet snakes (thanks to ebay).

////Mandark - Ravecore / Breakcore / Jungle
Local dubstep producer that recently developed a tumor damaging the parts of his brain that let him enjoy music without breakbeats and snare-rushes. Now all that is left is a perverted desire for distorted kicks, hoovers, and 1992 chipmunk vocals. Throwing down an eclectic mix of old-school rave, cheesegrater breakcore and glitched-out jungle. Not recommended for pregnant women, miscarriage due to intense low frequencies may occur.

////DJ Bad - Breakcore / Hardcore / I'm Happy AND Angry
East Van's secret bass weapon - anyone spinning less than 190 bpm will be set on fire. DJ Bad has been playing techno, dub, dubstep, house, drum'n'bass, breakcore, and more for about 7 years. He has been a core organizer in the Tribal Harmonix collective for even longer, with dozens of underground dance parties and festivals produced over the years.

what in the hell does an aborted fetus have to do with vancouvers dubstep, jungle, idm and breakcore scene?

What are you trying to do? You think this is a good image to represent our city? You've already pissed off a few people in the community.

Please change the flyer.

The flyer has been changed due to a possible violation of forum rules.

This event is not representative of a scene or this city in general, I don't know where you would get that from. This is very much an event that is trying to break out of the typical scene here, and I am sorry that you are offended we are in the same city. At least, that's what I got from your post :P

btw...

this is not Vancouver's first breakcore party.

I've been organizing events/playing breakcore in Vancouver since 2003.

Perhaps a misnomer, but this is the first time that I know of a party in Van that focuses entirely on breakcore. Events such as Bloodsound are still mostly based on dubstep and bass music.

Has an all-breakcore show been thrown in the past here? The closest thing I know of was Venetian Snares. Caught part of your set there too, twas killer mate.

and nice on throwing this show. more events. more promoters. let's do it.

don't know about the abortion thing tho. that's just me, and probably a bunch of other people too. heh heh.

Aah, was not aware of such a scene. Sad I missed it, was not around at the time.

Big ups to the Lighta crew as well, Bloodsound happening this month will have me on a full-on glitch overload.

i am surprised we have no more human beings responding to the first flyer
it was very inappropriate,
and the whole "i am sorry for saying this is the first breakore party"
thing just sounds like some ass licking

"i am not O.K.!!!!", juakali

see ya at dubforms

no need for the hostility mate

I changed the heading because it was inaccurate and didn't seem proper to the local DJs and promoters who had done such events in the past. If I had known of more local breakcore events I'd have been at every single one, but I am new to the Vancouver scene and did not.
I didn't actually apologize for anything as I'd never meant any disrespect in the first place, simple as that.

the show is gonna be fantastic, I am really stoked!

The title "abortion" is suppose to exhibit a sense of seediness and grungy-ness, like an illegal abortion in a back alley. As well, exhibiting a sense of being anything BUT proper or "appropriate." This theme reflects the nature of the music, which is going to be wonderfully obnoxious, fast, intense, and loud. Completely overwhelming and horrifying to the average music listener (but loved by raver kids everywhere :) )

cheers everyone! hope to see you all there!

First show I played in Van was a breakcore shindig with Fishead, pre-2000.

Good luck with the party. i' ll be there for sure
Big up Colby Sparks!.

PS. BloodSound has never been meant or promoted to be a ''breakcore only'' party/night!. it's a night that aims to be extremely dark,heavy and grimy underground, with a wide spectrum music based on our mutual tastes.

cheers.

ya - i can remember dropping some new skin and praxis in the 90s throwing "breakcore" oriented parties when i went by the guise of dermatitis.

definitely not new, but welcoming the newcomers and appreciating the genre mash thats occurring.

hardcore every week on air www.sleizure.ca 90.1 fri nights 1am -> passout.

abortion:

1 The premature expulsion of a nonviable fetus from the uterus; a miscarriage.
2 Cessation of normal growth, especially of an organ or other body part, prior to full development or maturation.
3 An aborted organism.

4 Something malformed or incompletely developed; a monstrosity

kinda like that one :-D
