Because that's what I think, Coki and those DMZ people are exactly what comes to mind when I think.. 'Hmmm, boring dubstep'

Reptilian wrote:what kind of response do you expect when you talk total crap?
Crap it might be, but it's an opinion, so it's just as crap as yours really..
Reptilian wrote:seriously why do you even listen to dubstep?
Because I like dubstep!

Didn't realise Coki and DMZ were the sole representation of a whole scene.

Seriously though, i think we've exhausted every possible angle here.. it's just embarasing now, arguing like this.

haha, you must be a troll with a comment like that!

..or maybe you have only followed dubstep evolving for two months or somethin'. seriously though, Coki has turned everyones head at least the two times he changed the whole dubstep production game (e.g. 'Bloodthirst' 4/4 bass-wobblers in 2004 - 'Spongebob' midrange crazyness in 2007)

I've got to stick up for Abs here. You can't just start ganging up on someone because they don't like one producer that you happen to adore. Personally I think coki has made some phat tunes but his heavier stuff is generally pretty boring, no excitement at all. His more chilled out stuff is prime, night *was* good when it came out no matter how sick of it we all are by now, ruff lovin, sound boy both awesome. I quite liked spongebob too but robotnik? I literally cant bring myself to listen to the whole track its so annoying and bland.

I'm not one of these people that hates anything thats more well known/bordering on mainstream either, rusko is a legend. I also love really heavy dubstep too, its not like I just listened to chilled stuff so only like his chilled tunes.

That's exactly why!

I respect that fact that people are into the music and it's probably getting peoples attention to the genre, broadening it and all that, but at the same time i feel that the tunes are all quite standard and bland, so personally i can't respect it for that reason, but then thats just me, and we agreed to shut up anyway so who cares.

I don't understand why forums are always such hate filled places but I don't think i've ever seen bullying quite like this on a forum before. You cant tell someone that their opinion on music is rediculous because ITS FUCKING MUSIC!

Isn't the whole fucking point that different people are going to like different things? I really don't understand why everyone here is acting like "coki being a badman" or whatever is a stone cold fact.. I bet there are probably musicians that are up there in my top 10 favourites that people here would instantly say was boring or shit or whatever but I wouldn't start flaming them for it, infact, id be fucking surprised if I posted who my favourite artist was and didn't get at least one person who really didn't rate them at all.

I would be very very fucking afraid if we lived in a world where good music was listed as fact and everyone listened to the same 5 bands/producers.

read further back inna di thread, i named some names.

the closest tune to a cliche dubstep track by an artist i actually like is 'Teledildonics' by Ebola, youtube it.

its got all the normal signs of a dubstep tune, but its all the little edits and strange noises that do it, and it's just heavy as fuck, sounds a beaut on a rig.

please dont now quote me as if im saying 'this tune by ebola represents my taste in music' because its not, i just thought i'd share it, look up painkillers by ebola aswell!

yeah he's a beast, manages to write 'intelligent' dubstep but still keep the bass stupidly in your face and mostly clear of pretentious tunes that don't really go anywhere, allthough there are a few on his new album i'm not so keen on, still though, i rate that guy highly!
