things that are killing dubstep at the moment
Re: things that are killing dubstep at the moment
You know whats killing dubstep? All the old heads stuck in their way. All they seem to be doing is sitting around rinsing the same old played out style.
Stop complaining and go innovate.

Props to that. Well said. BTW.. it's not OOT to tell you I'm really feeling "Jekal". Played it in my set couple of weeks back.hd4000 wrote:SouTHCoasteR wrote:"if the scene is wounded, stop picking at it and like a scab, it will heal itself much quicker. support the shit you like and dont even give the other stuff a mention."
AMEN
if people spent more time producing, playing, promoting what they ,love.and less time bitching about what they hate, maybe their "sound" would get more attention.i think these threads every few days is starting to get silly and monotonous.i think jason was "taking the piss" so to speak but still.work on building up what you like, instead of tearing down what you hate.

Is dubstep really being killed or is it just evolving at such an incredible pace that people are not able to keep up?
I'll agree I don't like everything I hear these days but that just simple because of how many tracks are put out there the quality control of certain producers and record labels are not always up to par.
People often complain to me how things aren't the same, but I find there mostly referring to the atmosphere/crowd/energy that one experiences at nights. Tbh I believe it is simply because the community vibe isn't as strong as it used to be. Think about it? You go to a party and you know 20 people. 6 months later you go to the same party and this time only 5 of those people you knew before are there, straight away it is going to feel very much different.
At the end of the day if your not into something don't support it, don't give it the time of day, because eventually it will wither away.
Put on your positive thinking hats and make friends at the end of the day.
Hold tight these semi entertaining threads.
Big up

DUBSTEP IS GROWING!!!
i hate all the people that complain about brostep and all that other bullshit....
who cares if its brostep/midrange whatever.......all you nostalgic fuckers know that if they stopped playing filthy wobblers you wouldn't be going to dubstep shows... you just don't wanna admit it.....
with acts like joy orbison, scuba etc.... dubstep is growing and changing form....just give it up
stop hating and deal with it

I went to hyperdub's 5th birthday, it was the best and most varied dubstep (it wasn't exclusively dubstep) night i've ever been to, and there wasn't a single 'filthy wobbler' played all night.rinseballs21 wrote:who cares if its brostep/midrange whatever.......all you nostalgic fuckers know that if they stopped playing filthy wobblers you wouldn't be going to dubstep shows... you just don't wanna admit it.....
I don't complain about brostep, i don't hate people who like it. I just don't 'get it' myself and i don't want to listen to it if i can help it.
This is why i support the idea of branding this kind of music 'brostep', so i know when to avoid it

Scuba has been around for many many years...rinseballs21 wrote:with acts like joy orbison, scuba etc.... dubstep is growing and changing form....just give it up
Re: things that are killing dubstep at the moment
I remember people moaning about garage changing back in like 2001ish when it really started moving away from the more house like sound to become darker, and they proclaimed then that garage was dead. But some of that darker stuff to me was some of the best stuff ever released, although I still loved the house-inspired stuff. Variety is the spice of life and all that jazz. If dubstep was all wobble it'd be boring, just as if it was all pure sub-bass. Dubstep isn't being killed, your idea of what dubstep should be is what is being killed.

Dubstep is going to kill itself if people keep making threads like these. I know I would.

whats killing it, Generics styles, and most of all threads like this.
Its the first and laast time I post in one of these types of threads. Also if you donk like the sounds that are out now and want something new its probably time you start producing. Either that or go back to listening to tunes from 2006.
