in FL i can automate any param of anything with less than 8 clicks (including click on the menu, selecting, creating automation track etc). 5 clicks for fl studio's plugins.

how many clicks do Live users need?

 not just "show", actually Link !!!

in fl plugins is just: right click on the knob, automate. No running through endless lists of params with funny abbreviated names.

Renoise, 2 clicks (including actual automating as 1 click)

Click on automation link next to changeable parameter (of which every vst can be automated oviously) in effects tab.
Automation pops up and click in what you want

Right click on the slider while the song is playing to input automation automatically.... so thats 1 click

An then pattern fx commands is no mouse clicks....

I think Renoise wins this competition, yes?

I'm afraid not. In Logic there's no need to 'create' an automation track, each track already has one. You need to simply click 'A' for the automation of every single track to appear underneath the origional.

Nana, thought you WERE lil pete? U smackhead! :P
I'm split. I use both reason and logic.... logic has better interface... easier to use, more user friendly.
Reason has some FUCK OFF synths though and u can make some sick and sexy grimey wobs. The layouts shit though and it can be a bit complicated to use if you don't know what you're doing.

Just my opinion though

By the way cant RK whatever the fuck his name is start trolling again? It made me laugh.

lol I was reading that part of the convo and thought the same thing. I don't think it is but perhaps to someone else it's something they actually consider beforehand.

I haven't posted in here for aggess and i haven't been making tunes for a good while either but i've spent a good amount of time using Sonar & Reason but my favourite has to be FL. As tempting as it is for people to go for the more complex looking and expensive software and rip on FL, it is an amazing piece of software and can pretty much do anything providing you spend the time and effort learning how to use it.

I'm hooked on Reason. Gives me all the flexibility i need when working with synths/drums.
Though i'm thinking to get a copy of Record too, for timestretching and more advanced mastering.

I've tired Pro Tools, came with my M-Audio midi keyboard but fuck me I hated the interface felt like I was back in 1995.

Is there any reason why Pro-Tools is popular in school/college/uni music courses?

Pro Tools is unbeatable for multitrack recording and audio editing. If you use it for making beats, you're an idiot.
