Damn right I'm proud of my country, for ONE reason: unity. No matter how xenophobic and cloistered our communities get (look at Boston for a great example), we all claim to be American. I mean yeah, we've got people from African backgrounds, but are they Ghanaian, Nigerian, whatever? Fuck no, they're "African-American". Whatever background you are, you're an -American. And that's one of the few things I'd actually fight to defend, that sense of unity, that I've always felt throughout my life.

Sure, the "American Dream" is bullshit, but that's because the pursuit of wealth and idolatry of the rich and useless has become such an overwhelming part of American culture. The American dream was originally to just earn your keep, to achieve, and to live to the fullest. I fucking hate what this country's sliding into, and I fucking hate the fact that the world sees people like you as the main population of the states.
Here's a hint: The idiots are just the loudest.

And "african-american" is a person who has dual citizenship. But actually, Africa is a continent... and you can't have citizenship from a continent. Saying that you are a "Irish-Amercian" is stupid unless you have citizenship in both countries; Ireland and The United States. Saying that you are an American is informing what NATIONALITY you are. Saying that you are "Irish-American", "italian-american", "african-american" is informing what RACE and WHERE you are from. Either you're an American or you're not. I don't need you to go around telling me what fucking race you are. This world is too fucking PC with that shit. If I went around telling my RACE and my NATIONALITY together; i.e. WHITE-AMERICAN, I am deemed a racist.

This country has ALWAYS been about capitalism.. having the opportunity and the right to achieve the most, based on each individuals ability to earn what they deserve. This is the driving force of principal; What inspires so many people from other countries to come here. *THE LAND OF OPPORTUNITY*
