Grim Syndicate:

Just listened to the track titled: "TheDevilWearsCastrato"
That song was loud noises. It completely changed styles like 5 times which made it pretty incoherent and difficult to sit through. I do see where you were going with it, but it isn't there. The bass was overwhelming which turned it into a brostep extravaganza that hurt my ears. It needs far more finesse and shouldn't be about trying to bend the listeners ears over and fuck them with overwhelming bass. Don't take this personally, I just decided to pick a random track on this page and critique it.

There is a point, where your critique becomes so unnecessary and arrogant that it is then best to say nothing about the track at all and mosey on back up the golden staircase you descended from the heavens on.

This, is that point.

@Karma_blitz

the only song i really wanna talk about is Karma_blitz's, only because it the first one i listened to and its fucking amazing. If i was a label, you'd be signed, but I'm not... and i know people will probably see this post and then listen to my songs and make the assumption that i have no idea about dubstep but although my production sucks sweaty asscrack, i know a good song when i hear one.

But yeh my songs are pretty shithouse and i never really finish anything cos i get stuck or bored with the current project so i move onto something new. Even tho this is the case i like seeing what i can produce and seeing how much i can improve, hence the reason im posting here for advice etc etc. So take a look at the latest mess that ive pumped out of reason and any comments here or on my youtube video/channel would be extremely appreciated.

cheers fellas

@BevOh Liking the intro, that FX and BD kind of scared me. That Synth sounds strange, but kind of interessting. Bass sounds extremely generic and simple, the automation is meh.
@Fatach The snare is too loud compared to the rest, good sub. Intro gets boring. You've got some very interesting sounds in your drop, but it doesn't quite sound banging enough you need more dynamics. The snare madness at the end, please leave that out.
@Grime Syndicate You need more sub, I don't like that main synth sound it sounds way too detuned. I actually dig the very low notes though. You've got some good ideas going on but you didn't execute them good enough in my opinion.

Here's a very chilled track I'm working on, I've ran out of ideas for now.

Not the best at production but hey, learning and listening is how you get better I guess.

So, first one, working backwards.

Akkep.
Very nice, feels smooth, the sorta sitting in a car driving around sorta vibe. Its nice and thick and the samples are epic. Only thing I dont really seem to like is theres no hook, it sounds like a song that could go on forever to me! Other than that tho I love it!

Hutyluty.
That intro is rather epic, nice! Perhaps a bit too much reverb? May just be me tho! Love it from 2.20 just rather epic!

Max4beats.
Also loving this, great vibes. Just feeling it. Samples work in my oppinion and just add to the sorta vibe im getting from the track!

Hah,
Only listened to the last 3 tracks but the bar is rather high here, I like guys, keep it up I only hope can get some stuff as good as you guys! :5:

Right figured I had my own WIP upto a stage where I was ready for it to be ripped apart by you guys!
Put together and sequenced in FL9. Makes use of vocal samples and a bit of outboard gear/synths. Very much a work in progress with lyrics and guitar to be added over the top. Designed to work as a live band style track rather than a club smasher.
Genre wise its mixing up house (the 4x4 beat) to an extent with dubstep (main influence) rest of it influence wise comes from Nine Inch Nails although may not show yet.
I know it seems to skip around alot but im working on it with more of a rock style structure admittedly.

(as yet currently not mixed or mastered)

Soundcloud

Oh yes, Just remembered to ask,
The mixing/mastering process is my weakest point, done a tonne of reading into it etc, but any hints/tips/good websites would be greatly appreciated!

No logic over here.

I used Reaktor for sequencing, efx's, some synths, and some of the drums. The rest of the drums, and synths came from, Massive, FM8, and battery. I hosted all this in FL Studio, and used a Midi controller to manipulate it live.
mr hello wrote: @ 3za- Some really cool stuff but it's quite masked by that c playing over and over. It's a bit hard to be objective about that middle section but I really like the ending. I don't know what Reaktor does but now I'm interested if this is all done in there.
I know what you mean about the same note playing over, and over, I have come up with away to avoid this in my next jam. Not all (see above) of this was done in Reaktor, but I could easily do something like this using Reaktor in standalone version. link to Reaktor; http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... reaktor-5/

@Aez i know the synth is strange but i liked it cos it was different. To tell you the truth i cant even remember how i produced it, but i think i saved the comb patch that had maybe 3 instances of thor in it?

Just because I don't produce doesn't mean that I don't have good taste in music or that I can't critique your music. Implying that one needs to be a producer in order to appreciate or to not appreciate a certain track communicates that you are too arrogant to take somebody not liking your music. I think you need to dismount from your high horse and see the radioactive STD that your music gave my ears.

I fail to see how I am carrying myself like a "neanderthal." I was merely being harsh in my review for one of the songs I happened to listen to on the page. The responses that resulted from my post were anything but sophisticated or educated, and didn't make the situation any better.

I think that you, sir, need to calm down and stop flaming. People have differing opinions, if you don't like my opinion or the way in which I express my opinion, then I believe that is your problem.

Indoctrination: I feel like this could use a different wobble with some heavier bass and some more realistic sounding drums, I'd also bring the movie samples down and put reverb on them so they sit better in the rest of the mix, and they could also be chopped differently. The intro synth could also use some work.

Grime Syndicate: I really love this intro synth alot, everything sounds good to me mix-wise right now. There's not really a whole lot to comment on but I do really enjoy what you have here so far. Good stuff.

Here's mine: Soundcloud

I've been working on it on and off for a few weeks and actually posted it here, It's tough composition wise I guess because I'm not getting very far with it when I do work, But I like what I've got right now, honest feedback appreciated.
I've been hearing that this track should stay this short, opinions?
